I’m on a mission to learn something new each week. My lessons aren’t always technology related or associated with my hobby but since I spend most of my time with my nose buried in some software, I will admit those lessons definitely come more frequently. I’ve worn glasses most of my life but the older I get the harder it is for me to see small print and those little teeny tiny samples of text you get with the character option in Photoshop are basically of NO value to me.
This week I learned how to enlarge those samples and it was definitely my “WOW” moment for the week. I wanted to share it with you in case some of you are having issues with the standard “Photoshop for Teens with great eyes”. Let me show you what I’m talking about.
Here is a screenshot. I’ve got a bit of text typed out but I want to see some other options.
I want to test some other font choices so I’ll use my Character option. Mine is docked on the right next to my navigator. If you don’t see yours then go to the menu at the top and choose >Window>Character.
This was my life before the lesson. No way could I tell what those fonts looked like.
There is a super simple fix for this. Choose Edit>Preferences>Text. In the drop down next to text you can choose from Small to Huge. I opted for Extra Large. I might need Huge somewhere down the road but for now I think this will do.
Take a look at my new Font Preview! I’m thrilled! Less eye strain and fewer steps since I don’t have to scroll through each one testing it on my text.
You try it! Or maybe you already knew about this. Truth is, my old version of PS was set with the Large and when I upgraded I didn’t remember how to change this. So happy I found the setting!
I’ll be taking off for a few weeks. I’m headed to Japan to see my son and his family. Thrilled doesn’t even begin to describe it! When I talked to them this weekend they said the cherry blossoms should be in full bloom by next week. My camera batteries are charged and I can’t wait to start clicking and then to start scrapping! I’ve been looking for Japanese kits or something with the perfect Asian flair for my pages. Wouldn’t you know Boo read my mind and she has a beauty coming out next week. You’ll have to check her store on April 5th but I wanted to give you a quick Sneak Peek.
This is of course on my list of must have kits but I browsed the store and found a few more. If you’re headed to Japan too or if you just want to ad some Asian flair to your pages then you might like these beauties by Feli Designs and butterflyDsign.
I can’t wait to get started on my pages and my trip! I’ll be making a printable Photo Book of my trip. Fingers crossed that there will be hundreds of photos so I’ll need a book to show them all off. I’ve had my eye on this new one by Boo since it has plenty of spaces for pictures. We’ll see how it turns out .
I’ll see you all again after tax day (April 15th here in the U.S.).
