CU Triple Play Not Just For Designers

in Commercial Use Pin this scrappy stuff!

Don’t you just love tools that allow you to make something totally and completely unique for your page or special craft project?  I love having that one little thing that wasn’t included in the kit that sort of adds my own personal signature and this week I’ve had some fun.  Not long ago Karen, of Snickerdoodle Designs introduced her Warp It Action Duo.  I knew the moment I saw it that I had to have it.  I love the look of papers that truly conform to the crumples and wrinkles so I snagged it up and gave it a spin.  I’m hooked.  This is, without a doubt, one of the best tools in my tool box.  The more I play with it, the more fun I have.  Today I’m going to show you two of the papers I’ve made using some simple Commercial Use tools.

I’ll be using the Warp It Action for Papers by Snickerdoodle Designs, CU Crumpled 4 by Janet B Designs and CU Signature Papers –  Bohemian Fall by Booland Designs.  If you’re not familiar with how to use actions in PhotoShop then you’ll want to grab a cup of your favorite beverage and check out Karen’s 5 minute tutorial.  She shows you how to use the action in the video and uses a lined paper. It’s way cool.

I simply grabbed one of Janet’s new crumpled papers and followed the directions in the action.  I topped it with one of Boo’s CU Bohemian Fall Signature papers and then let the action run.  At the end, I changed the paper layer to Multiply but it was a tad gray for me so I used the cool Shift, Alt, Ctrl, E command and brought an extra copy of the paper to the top.  I played a bit more with the blending options on the top paper until I got a dark, vivid paper that works perfectly with most any of the Bohemian Fall Products.

Here are two different papers I made in a matter of minutes.  They would make great background papers but I can also clip them to a tag or paper type frame.

bld_bohemianfall_custom2-2Be sure to play around with the blending modes.  I made several adjustments to the levels for both the crumpled layer and the paper layer.  Every little “tweak” makes something new.  Boo’s vibrant signature papers were perfect and she has several brand new sets in her store (on sale too) but this action also does amazing things with patterned or lined papers too.  Janet just released 5 new sets of crinkled and wrinkled papers and they are 35% off so it’s definitely time to make something fun.
