Recipe Card Challenge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1042)
* * * * * * *
Here are the instructions for this month's recipe card challenge/exchange:

1. Click HERE (https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_189&products_id=11976&zenid=732c52f5b80d9e0123b7e68f462e41ec) for this month's starter kit. The majority of your card(s) must be made with this kit to ensure all the cards “coordinate” with each other. Feel free to use additional CU items to enhance your cards (for example, brushes, actions, etc.). The starter kit will be free to those who used the prior month's starter kit to create and share at least one recipe card.

2. The general theme for this month's cards is your favorite "KID TESTED" recipes ~ the post below this one includes more information. Be creative and have fun with your cards! If you need a specific metal tag and don't have it from a previous kit, send me an e-mail and I'll make it for you.

3. Design your recipe card(s) however you'd like. Include your name, forum name ~ whatever you want ~ on the card.

4. Create your original card at 6" wide X 4" tall (1800 and 1200 pixels) and save it as a 300 ppi jpeg, quality between 8 to 10. These are the print-quality cards that will be shared with all participants. You will also need to resize your card at 72 ppi to post in the gallery.

WHEN FINISHED with your card(s), do the following 3 things:

1. E-mail your print-quality, 300 ppi recipe card to LetMeScrapbook@hotmail.com so it can be included in the download file at the end of the month. Do not share your print-quality card on your blogs or through any other means without my prior approval. Several participants have also asked for blank copies of the cards you design, so if you're willing to send me both (with and without the words), that would be great!

2. Upload a picture of your 72 ppi card to the Recipe Card Challenge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1042). Please upload only your actual recipe card ~ not the blank cards. You may also post a copy of your 72 ppi (web version) on your blog if you’d like, and then include a link to the forum in case others are interested and want to participate.

3. Post a link here in this forum thread no later than May 31.

At the end of the month, all participants will receive a link to download all the cards created that month. Bon appétit!!

I frequently check the ideas and suggestions forum (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/forum/showthread.php?t=8706) to decide on our monthly themes. I noticed several comments related to kids recipes -- so that's what we're doing this month. Think of recipes you loved as a child, or your children's/grandchildren's favorite foods. Do you have any family recipes you made when your kids were younger and now you'd like to pass those along, or something you love to have kids help you make?

As always, anything goes. "Kid tested" is our general theme, but if you can't think of a single thing in that broad category, never fear. You can still use the kit to come up with a recipe that inspires you! I can't wait to see what you come up with...

As a general rule, I will share the print-quality version (300 ppi) of the cards you create for this challenge with the other participants; they are not to be given away/shared via a download link on your blogs or through any other means. Feel free to post a picture of the web version (72 ppi) of your card on your blog. If you want, you can also include a link to the forum so others can join in and participate. Please let me know if you have any questions about this explanation or my Terms Of Use (TOU) document.

YAY!! I have 2 right off the bat to make a card for.

05-01-2012, 07:12 AM
Ok, I'm thinking wayyyyyyyyyy back when, when my kids were kids and have come up with one recipe so far, lol Love this theme Maurine and the kit you are sharing for us to use!! I'm always excited to see what you have dreamed up for the next challenge. Think it is time to ask my grown kids what their favorite recipe was when they were growing up! :D

05-01-2012, 09:39 AM
This is just so cute. Love the idea. Been a long time since my kids were young. Even grandson is in Air Force. Have to think. Back soon. Rose

05-01-2012, 09:48 AM
Ahh, this should be interesting. Yes, I can think of a couple of recipes off the top of my head, This is a really great idea! Good luck to everyone, I can't wait to see what everyone has to share! This is so much fun! :-)

05-01-2012, 09:56 AM
This is a great idea, but being this is my 2nd challenge, but first since I purchased the april kit, how do I get the May kit? Do I need to purchase that one too? It says if you participated in the past month, you get the current one free...is that right?
I'll wait to hear back from you. I realize this is only the 1st day of May and you need time to see who participated. <3

Hi, Candie. I'll be sending you a coupon code for May's kit in the next day or two, so hang tight just a bit longer. I just got a whole bunch of April cards in, so I'm going through those this evening to get my final list put together of who needs the May code. Glad to see you back this month...

Fun Theme! I have a recipe my 30 year old kid :w has been bugging me to use in your challenge  Now it will fit :)) There is also another she was reminding me about. So now I need inspiration to put it on a card..... Hopefully that will happen before the month is out.

Last months kit was a blast to make my calendar out of :((

05-02-2012, 08:08 AM
Great idea! I think I can come up with a few! Although my kid wouldn't eat anything! Even the things we loved as kids!

05-02-2012, 02:22 PM

That was so fun! Thanks!

05-03-2012, 07:21 AM
What an adorable kit! Thank you Maureen! Will have to put on a thinking cap for this one. lol pigluvr

I just finished uploading a recipe card for APPLESAUCE-SPICE COOKIES (http://candiescreations.blogspot.com) at my blog. You can snag it there.
You can preview it in the forum (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/recipe-card-challenge/p96748-cm12-rcc-kids-applesauce-spice-cookies.html)
Thanks Maurine for this awesome kit and challenge. I LOVE IT! :-)

05-03-2012, 10:36 PM
I'm back with another recipe to share, you can snag these Chocolate Chip Cookies at my blog (http://candiescreations.blogspot.com).
Here's the link for the FORUM (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/recipe-card-challenge/p96785-chocolate-chip-cookie-anything-goes.html) to preview my card.

05-04-2012, 06:15 AM
TY Maurine, I got the kit and I am so excited to get the recipe cards too. TY so much for your generosity and to all those who participate in this challenge.
Good luck with those cards, that is a job I don't envy you. LOL Wish I could HELP though. <3

05-04-2012, 07:01 AM
I have a question...can we share the recipe cards we create with your kit on our blog? I am talking about only the cards I create, on my blog. I will share this thread too if you would like that, might get more people involved...but no promises, LOL! Thanks

05-04-2012, 02:44 PM

I'm pretty sure that Maurine will say "no" - the cards are shared only within the group who contributes and if you shared on your blog that would be a copyright infringment of the kit and her TOUs. We do get a fairly good turn out each month and I'm sure if you wanted to blog about it you could without offering the card.

Maurine please correct me if I'm wrong, but I wanted to make sure this got answered right away.

05-04-2012, 04:54 PM
I'm back with another recipe to share, you can snag these Chocolate Chip Cookies at my blog (http://candiescreations.blogspot.com).
Here's the link for the FORUM (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/recipe-card-challenge/p96785-chocolate-chip-cookie-anything-goes.html) to preview my card.

The previews should be posted in the gallery and then linked in the forum. You SHOULD NOT be offering the cards free on your blog. The cards are mailed to Maurine and then she mails a link out to all the participants with the cards she has collected. By offering as a freebie on yor blog you are making a copy right infrigment on her TOUs.
Once again, Maurine, just trying to pop in and answer quickly before this gets out of hand. This has been the rules of the challenge all along.

05-04-2012, 04:58 PM
Anybody up for a recipe for Playdough?????

05-05-2012, 05:47 AM
I am so sorry, I will REMOVE my cards from my blog immediately. I did NOT understand this correctly I guess. I am so sorry for this. I read and re-read, I guess I just miss read. So, I just share the link to the gallery here...and send my originals to Maurine, that's it?
Again, I am sorry, :-( and I will go right now... TY for the post.

05-05-2012, 06:16 AM
Thank you, that is why I wanted to ask first, being a newbie here and all.
You might want to include this tidbit in your first post for new people like me.

05-05-2012, 06:25 AM
All previews and links have been removed from my blog.
I am so sorry, I guess I miss read the rules. I WOULD NOT break any rules intentionally. Again, I apologize to everyone for my error. It has been corrected and the previews have been removed from my blog. TY so much Barb to letting me know about this. I know I read and re-read the rules, but I guess I just didn't get it. I am so sorry. I thought we could post the preview and share OUR OWN recipes...and then send people back here for more. Again, I am sorry. I hope you can forgive me of my ignorance. :-( I do appreciate the FYI..and I'm glad you did before it got too far along. <3 Thanks. :-)

05-05-2012, 07:50 AM
Well all mis-read things. Thanks for your participation and shout out any questions. Hopefully when Maurine returns she can look at the comments and see if anything needs to be adjusted in the directions.

And girls...... Welcome to the Studio - we are glad to have you here.

05-06-2012, 05:15 PM

Dear friends: Thanks so much for the discussion about sharing cards on your blogs. This helped me realize that I haven't mentioned this or my general terms of use (TOU) in the monthly instructions, so it's a valid question. And thanks, Barb, for answering in my absence. I've just added some clarifying direction in both the 1st and 2nd posts in this forum thread and will start doing this (or something similar) each month to help us all be on the same page. If you have additional questions or suggestions on how to make my TOU clear, or anything else with this challenge, please let me know.

05-06-2012, 05:36 PM
Absolutely! That would be a perfect recipe for this month's theme!

Anybody up for a recipe for Playdough?????

05-06-2012, 06:56 PM
Maurine, thanks again for the great kit and the highlight of my scrapping month.
Here we go:

My grandkids had a blast making these pizzas! Have the camera ready!
http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/data/1042/kiddosPizzaParty-wb.jpg (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/recipe-card-challenge/p96951-kiddos-pizza-party.html)

05-08-2012, 03:34 PM
Some of the chatter here had me worried.
I have been posting my recipe cards on my blog since I started the challenge in 2010. I always try to give credit, but I can see I can add links to help direct others to Maurine or even this challenge.
So in short I asked Maurine to check out my blog to see if I had indeed been going against her TOUs. ...and I have NOT!
It is alright to post our work, give credit and let others see what is out there. It is not alright to have the cards FREE for the taking to just anyone.
So CandieM post your recipe card, just as Maurine said the 'web version' or the 72ppi one, give a link to the gallery/forum/LetMeScrapbook blog and have fun.
...and I can't believe I am saying this, because no one reads my blog, but my sister...you can check out my blog to see what I have done (and Maurine approves).
colorcountryscraps (http://colorcountryscraps.blogspot.com/)

Anywho....here is my card for this month. You will have to try it to believe it.
Card (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/data/1042/medium/Butterfingers2.jpg) and Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/recipe-card-challenge/p97014-butterfingers.html) links.

TY so much JennyJ...I appreciate the INFO so much. I am having so much fun and would NOT offend anyone on purpose for anything at all. I'm just glad someone told me before it was posted too long. TY for caring enough to try to help me. <3 You all have been really sweet about my mistake...TY so much!

I have made another card...I think I am on a roll! LOL This one is the O'le Fashioned Gingerbread Cookies. Yep. yet another story behind this one...but too long. In the short, A few year ago, I had all 5 g-kids over on Sat. after Thanksgiving. We made Gingerbread boys and girls. Then cut out each of their hands. Got them decorated and hung on the tree. The 2 1/2 yr old decided he was hungry one day and ...you got it...he ate the bottoms off of the cookies! He would have eaten the whole cookie, but he could not reach it! LOL

Any way, I do hope you all are LOGGING your memories with your recipes? I know I will when I scrap these into the 8x10's. ;)
You can see my preview here:

05-10-2012, 02:22 AM
It's "kids recipes", so I think the cards should have the fun look.
But I made this 'serious' recipe card (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/data/1042/may-recipecard_72.jpg). Oh well...
:D I will come again with another card that looks fun :D
This is my son's current favorite. Recipe taken from here (http://www.taste.com.au/recipes/4118/healthy+chicken+and+vegetable+sausage+rolls). It's healthy & good with tomato sauce !

05-10-2012, 07:35 AM
This is a fun and easy recipe to make with the kids. Most of all, it's TRADITIONAL!
It's called Traditional Sugar Cookies...lol My kids had fun making these and decorating them.
You can view it here...

05-10-2012, 07:28 PM
Here is my recipe card. Thanks for the challenge Maureen.

I think this might be my very favorite theme for the challenges so far. Our kids were always coming up with fun recipes to try. They are all boys and I made sure they all knew how to cook. Of course, their favorite recipes were usually desserts and other treats. Here's my first recipe card.http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/data/1042/elaine_mayrecipe2_web.jpg

05-16-2012, 10:53 PM
Thanks so much for another fun challenge kit, Maurine. All your kits are a pleasure to play with!
Here's another card with a recipe that our oldest son used to surprise us with breakfast one morning when he was little.http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/data/1042/elaine_mayrecipe1_web.jpg

05-18-2012, 09:22 AM
Oh this is so cool, I have a favorite recipe that I made with my grandmother every Summer, I hope I can find the time to participate!

05-18-2012, 05:12 PM
My recipe is Mico_wave Rice Kripies Treats

3 TB Butter
1 Package miniature Marshmallows or about 6 cups marshmallows
6 Cups Kellogg’s Rice Krispies

Have a 13x9x2 glass pan all buttered up. Also a very large bowl buttered and all the Rice Krispies in the bowl. Set aside in a area to work in.
In a 2 quart Pyrex Measuring cooking bowl with handle put the butter in the bottom and then all the marshmallow on top. Put that into the Micro wave and have a wooden spoon to keep stirring the mixture down as you cook it for a few minutes at a time watching it raise and opening the door to stir the marshmallows down. I set it for 5 Minutes and it all depends on the amount of heat. I use regular setting. If more time is needed cook it until all the marshmallows can be stirred and creamy. Then pour all the mixture on to the Rice Krispies and butter the clean hands or use a buttered wooden spoon to mix it all up working very quickly. Clean up is a snap but do not put a very hot glass bowl into the water it will break. At Christmas we use decorated cup cake cups and fill those and then drizzle melted Almond Bark Chocolate flavor followed by a drizzle of the Almond Bark White. This can be found at Christmas in most stores. Kids next door love it along with grown-ups.
