Here are the instructions for this month's recipe card challenge/exchange:
1. Click HERE (https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_189&products_id=15279) for this month's starter kit. The majority of your card(s) must be made with this kit to ensure all the cards “coordinate” with each other. Feel free to use additional CU items to enhance your cards (for example, brushes, actions, etc.). The starter kit will be free to those who used the prior month's starter kit to create and share at least one recipe card.
2. The general theme for this month's cards is your favorite recipe for “TRICK or TREAT”/Halloween/Fall recipe ~ the post below this one includes more information. Be creative and have fun designing your cards! If you need a specific metal tag and don't have it from a previous kit, send me an e-mail and I'll make it for you.
3. Create your original card at 6" wide X 4" tall (1800 and 1200 pixels) and save it as a 300 ppi jpeg, quality between 8 to 10. These are the print-quality cards that will be shared with all participants. You will also need to resize your card at 72 ppi to post in the gallery.
WHEN FINISHED with your card(s), do the following 3 things:
1. E-mail your print-quality, 300 ppi recipe card to [email protected]
so it can be included in the download file at the end of the month. Do not share your print-quality card on your blogs or through any other means without my prior approval. Several participants have also asked for blank copies of the cards you design, so if you're willing to send me both (with and without the words), that would be great!
2. Upload a picture of your 72 ppi card to the Recipe Card Challenge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1042). Please upload only your actual recipe card ~ not the blank cards. You may also post a copy of your 72 ppi (web version) on your blog if you’d like, and then include a link to the forum in case others are interested and want to participate.
3. Post a link here in this forum thread no later than October 31.
At the end of the month, all participants will receive a link to download all the cards created that month. Bon appétit!!

I still remember trick-or-treating when I was a kid – it was so fun to dump my pillowcase of treats on the floor and see the wide variety of goodies I’d got. That’s what I’m looking for this month – almost like a potluck theme, with a focus on recipes you make this time of year. It doesn't have to be a sweet treat, either – maybe your favorite treat is not sweet at all. Think about recipes that might include store-bought candy – or a candy you make yourself, caramel apples, apple cider, pumpkin pie, soup in a pumpkin, “dirt” cake covered with gummy worms – whatever you come up with. Anything goes – I can’t wait to see what ideas you have to share and the cute cards you make. Most of all -- have fun!
P.S. The starter kit has a few extras. For example, I couldn’t decide which arrow or frame I liked best, so I just included them all ~ same thing with one of the papers. I guess you can call it my extra “treat” for your scrapbook stash.
IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SHARING YOUR CARDS:

This sounds like fun. See you soon.

OOOhhh...what a cute kit!! I am looking forward to working with it.
10-03-2012, 10:36 PM
What a really cute kit, Maurine! It'll be great to create Halloween cards, too. Thank you, and for the fun challenge theme, also.
10-04-2012, 05:13 PM
If you participated in September -- please check your e-mail inbox. I just sent you all the coupon code for October's starter kit. If you don't have it, please let me know and I'll resend.
10-04-2012, 07:21 PM
I got mine:) I'll be back soon with a card or 2:)
10-04-2012, 07:27 PM
We love this when the weather starts getting cooler. You can adjust the "kick" to it by using less cumin and only one can of Rotel tomatoes. I like it spicy with a "kick."
10-04-2012, 07:48 PM
This is SO adorable! I just love it! Thank you, Maurine!
10-04-2012, 08:06 PM
Beautiful kit. I'm going to look up the recipe for "soul cakes" and see what else I can come up with. We don't usually cook for Halloween but we do for All Saints day so I'll come up with something.

Alrighty....I got two cards made and waited patiently for theStudio to get back online. :)
I actually think many of my previous cards could work for this theme like my Butterfinger (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p97014-butterfingers.html) recipe, it uses candy corn. Dirt cake (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p94488-dirt-cake.html), you can use gummy body parts as a graveyard. Chocolate Peanut Butter (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p95430-chocolate-peanut-butter-eggs.html) eggs can be made into pumpkins or ghosts (with white chocolate). And recipes using pumpkins, you can check out: Triple Chocolate Pumpkin Pie (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p89247-triple-chocolate-pumpkin-pie.html), Pumpkin Spiced Fudge (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p70173-pumpkin-fudge.html), Pumpkin Angel Food Dessert (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p69211-pumpkin-angel-food-cake.html), and Pumpkin waffles (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p90249-pumpkin-waffles.html). I also have a few party ideas for a Harry Potter party (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p64853-party-ideas.html), but can be used at Halloween time too.
That was a fun trip down 'recipe card memory lane' :)

Here is a family favorite recipe that is done in 5 to 10 minutes. It is my most requested recipe. Enjoy. Cook the sugar mixture a few extra minutes for really crunchy caramel corn.

When I was young, my mom insisted that I had to have a good dinner before I could go trick or treating. The dinner we always had was [a can] of chili. When I became a mom I tried to keep the tradition, but wanted to make my own chili. I found it hard after the kids were in school I I always had one or more school parties to participate in. So I found the solution in a crock pot recipie.
Here is my card.

Another Adorable Kit this month. Seems that the my Fig Tree is very productive now. Fig Recipe are at the top of my list these days. :))
These Cookies past the Family test and the neighbor test. :((
I must admit I changed one of the Girls in the kit to a Harvest Girl, since we don't do Halloween. See the gallery for the CU items used.

I had these at a recent fund raiser dinner - they were awesome!
Couldn't fit all the directions on one side, so I thought if you printed them both out you could use double sided tape to stick the front to the back.
10-30-2012, 06:32 PM
Here's my card. Sending them to you now.
10-30-2012, 10:28 PM
