View Full Version : November - LESS is MORE Challenge
11-02-2012, 08:47 PM
Hi everyone, Darlene here of Studio4 Design•works (https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=13_392&zenid=83ec9abf50c7250ead3d973613cda300). For the November LESS IS MORE Challenge, I've created a little mini this month with a theme in mind. It's designed for you to do with it as you like. Next weekend, November 11th is what we call "Remembrance Day" here in Canada. In the States, they have "Veteran's/Memorial Day". It's to honour all the veterans - past, present and future that have helped protect us and our lands, for centuries. I'm sure all of us are connected in one way or another to someone like that. But it doesn't have to be taken that way of course, create a page about anything that is worth remembering to you.
I'm offering up a FREEBIE mini kit for you to work with called REMEMBERING. The premise of this challenge is to download this kit and create a LO using ALL of the elements and papers of the kit, leaving nothing out. Feel free to use your imagination and clip papers, recolour elements or papers. You can add journaling text or a title, but nothing more. You can duplicate items and use them over again. Be creative!
Post your LO here in the "Less is More" (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/g1389--91less-is-more-92-challenge-gallery.html) gallery and then link your LO back here in this thread.
Download the mini kit HERE (http://www.mediafire.com/?afarpxtjb5y8ite).
Here's a preview of the mini:

Challenges are obviously going to be on the backburner until it's all done - but thank you gals for the comments on the mini and can't wait to see what you come up with this month!

Here is mine:
My dad: Lt. Col. Henry Paul Brauner died on my 10th birthday, just
before the war was over. All I could remember was we had everything
set up outside & that dad never came home. Then in the early evening
A blue vehicle drove up our driveway & Identified mom: Gloria Madline
Brauner, & then broke the news. My sister comforted mom that night, &
I comforted my mother for the rest of her life, for she had a hard time
dealing with her husbands death. My dad was only 36 yrs old @ the time,
& very much missed by us all, though we all dealt with it in different ways.
I didn't find out til later, that we had lots of people who were wearing
Dads MIA bracelet & praying for us all these many years.

So fabulous everyone. I get goosebumps when I see all this gorgeousness. I'll be leaving you some love in the gallery.
Artbeary, I'm sorry you didn't see all the instructions for the challenge. It's kind of the reason for the challenge - stretch you to choose from a smaller set of papers and ellies, and to stretch you that you have to use everything in the kit. It can be as minute or as large as you want as far as placement.

Here is my layout... I come from a long line of military family members. I am also married to a Soldier. Currently I believe there are 11-12 in the service ( all branches- including Reserves and National Guard) right now on my side. My husband's brother is also in and currently overseas.
This is for all those that have had loved ones serve or are currently serving.....

At first: Thank you for that wonderful mini, itīs great! I love the colours and elements.
Because of your theme: Iīm thankful that Iīve no war remembrance, so I couldnīt do a page about it. So I use the kit to do a remembering journaling page for the photobook of my oldest daughter, and a twice (even using all papers and elements) for the other side in the book:
I explain the german text in gallery HERE (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/-91less-is-more-92-challenge-gallery/p112058-rememberance.html)
And the second page:

I just love this mini, gorgeous colors and grunge, thanks, Darlene, for mini and challenge. Here is mine....
11-11-2012, 08:03 PM
So stunning ladies! KPmelly - wowsers - 2 pages from the mini - totally awesome! The kit wasn't supposed to be tunneled for Remembrance Day, just a vehicle if you chose so, and it's up to anyone's interpretation as to what you want to do with it. And you've created 2 stunners!
11-17-2012, 01:52 PM
I have created a simple LO using this kit, and thank you very much for that.
However, the photo of our children -taken some 35 years ago when they were Air Cadets - is 'somewhere' in a box or bag or??? Should I upload the page or just leave it?
Sorry, I should have been certain of having a photo before downloading the kit.
11-17-2012, 02:20 PM
That is totally up to you Margaret. This challenge in the end is basically for you. You can save it as a Quick Page, leaving the space open in the frame and then when you get your photo, you can place it when you're ready.

Since several elements in this kit reminded me of memories about my Dad--such as he loved the color red, I choose to do my layout about him.
