Welcome to the Surprise Me Border Challenge for March!
Did you happen to browse thru the Featured Designers Gallery last month? I was thrilled to see all of the wonderful layouts that were created using the "Love is in the Air" Featured Designer Collaboration between Maurine (Let Me Scrapbook) and me (SnickerdoodleDesigns). As I was looking, one in particular caught my eye because I thought it was a fabulous example of an unusual way to use a border!
So this month's challenge is to create a border and use it in an unusual way...I'll leave it up to you to determine what "unusual" is!
So here are the rules:
* You may use any kit you wish.
* Post your layout in the Surprise Me Border Challenge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/g1344-surprise-me-21-challenge.html)
* Come back here and post your preview and a link to the Surprise Me Border Challenge Gallery in this thread. This makes it super simple for us to find your layouts in the gallery, and we thank you for taking this extra step!
What do you earn by participating? Well, theStudio offers a 10% discount on ALL of your purchases for the following month. So, if you participate this month and get a layout posted (AND post a link here in this forum), you will receive 10% off every purchase made next month! No coupons are required. The discount will automatically be applied to your purchase. How easy is that? And YES, this is on top of any sales prices too.
And, by the way, congratulations to the Layout Artist, btmo-Pat, for being the random winner of the Love is the Air Collection! (https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_372&products_id=18742&zenid=5c86cc1ea9c0a06b8663f9bfa6805f34)

Here's mine Karen. I don't know whether you would call it a border or a cluster; I live to think of it as a bit of both.
I've used Laitha's extremely beautiful kit, Never Forget. This is such a fantastic kit to scrap with!

Looks like a border to me, Robin. It's a "cluster-border" and a beautiful one at that. What a sweet story!

Here's mine. I'm so happy to already have a layout finished this month - I've been trying to do at least one a day. :)

Here's mine. I used the fence in Karen's kit and then added lots of leaves and flowers.

Cute Border Ideas. My Border came from a need to tie all three of my morning photos together. Remembering this Border Challenge gave me a way to do it. The memory page was started with a photo cluster that I layered with some elements from the DSS Blog Hop Kit Always. The paper is also from the Always kit.

Here are my layouts for this month:
These pictures are from trip to Cottage Grove, Oregon in October 2011. I've been wanting to scrap them as a remembrance of the trip and chose them for this challenge.
I used Karen's (aka Snickerdoodle Designs) "Artist In Men" kit. I love the colors in the kit and they seemed to fit with the pictures.
The pages are a bit busy, but this time I’m presenting information and I think the layout works OK.

mine turned into a double pager. I had a lot of photos

Since it is March and St Pat's day is just around the corner, I chose to do an Irish page. I made a 'cluster border' and did the page in a monochromatic of greens.
My great-grandmom was of Irish descent. She had her father's eyes and their last name was Angel... so mom always referred to my eyes as "Angel Eyes". She would sing Irish Eyes to me when I was young.
Always enjoy your border challenges.

Crazy thing- the color palette was just that- the color palette. I don't know if it was meant to be used or not, but I love it!!
