Recipe Card Challenge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1042)
* * * * * * *
Here are the instructions for this month's recipe card challenge/exchange:

1. Click HERE (https://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_189&products_id=19589) for this month's recipe card challenge kit. The majority of your card(s) must be made with this kit, although you can also use other CU items to enhance your cards (for example, brushes, actions, etc.). NOTE: A coupon code will be provided to those who used the prior month's kit to create and share at least one recipe card in the previous month’s challenge.

2. The general theme for this month's cards is your favorite recipe with 5 ingredients or less ~ the post below this one includes more information. Be creative and have fun designing your cards!

3. Create your recipe card(s) at 6" wide x 4" tall (1800 and 1200 pixels), 300 ppi resolution. These are the print-quality cards that will be shared with all participants. When finished, save as a jpeg file with quality between 8-10. Carefully proofread and make needed changes before finalizing.

4. You will also need to resize and save your card(s) at 72 ppi to post in the gallery.

WHEN FINISHED with your card(s), you must do the following 3 things:

1. E-mail your print-quality, 300 ppi recipe card to LetMeScrapbook@hotmail.com so it can be included in the download file at the end of the month. Do not share your print-quality card on your blogs or through any other means without my prior approval. Several participants have also asked for blank copies of the cards you design, so if you're willing to send me both (with and without the words), that would be great!

2. Upload a picture of your 72 ppi card to the Recipe Card Challenge Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1042). Please upload only your actual recipe card ~ not the blank cards. You may also post a copy of your 72 ppi (web version) on your blog if you’d like, and then include a link to the forum in case others are interested and want to participate.

3. Post a message here in this forum thread with a link to your gallery card no later than March 31.

At the end of the month, all participants will receive a link to download all the cards created that month. Bon appétit!!

NOTE: A checklist of instructions is included in the store kit for your convenience.

Dear friends: I wanted to let you know why I haven't posted this month's challenge yet. Our sweet 16-year-old neighbor passed away last Sunday; I've known him and his family since he was 3 months old. In addition to the sadness we're all feeling, I've also had many opportunities this week to serve this amazing family due to my church responsibilities -- and that has been my main priority and focus. The funeral and family luncheon is tomorrow, and then I will shift gears and finalize the kit for March's challenge.

Thank you in advance for your understanding and patience -- I promise to be back here just as soon as I can...

I’ve had this color palette in mind for a full-size kit for a long time and decided to give it a “test run” for this month’s challenge. I hope you like it as much as I do! I’ve also been trying some simple recipes with just a few ingredients, so that’s the inspiration for this month’s challenge – 5 ingredients or less. This can be for any type of recipe: appetizer, drink, dessert, side or main dish, salad, bread, etc. I can’t wait to see what ideas you have to share and the cute cards you make!

February participants: Due to my personal situation this month, I’ll send you an e-mail with a coupon code for this month’s kit no later than March 7.

As a general rule, I will share the print-quality version (300 ppi) of the cards you create for this challenge with the other participants; they are not to be given away/shared via a download link on your blogs or through any other means. Feel free to post a picture of the web version (72 ppi) of your card on your blog. If you want, you can also include a link to the forum so others can join in and participate. Please let me know if you have any questions about this explanation or my Terms Of Use (TOU) document.

Whenever a child dies it is so very, very devastating. My heart and prayers are with you and your neighbours.

03-04-2013, 12:32 PM
Maurine, your first responsibility, of course, is to the family. It hurts so when the young are taken from us.

03-04-2013, 12:48 PM
You are doing a good thing helping that family, your recipe "family" can wait. I will pray for the families affected by this tragedy.

03-04-2013, 01:12 PM
This is very sad... It is really good of you to help them now. I wish you and them lots of strength.

03-04-2013, 02:52 PM
So sorry for your loss and the loss of a life so young. Prayers being said.

03-04-2013, 08:58 PM
Sorry to hear of your neighbor's loss of a son, but your first responsibility as you know is to that family and your calling. Prayers are with you.

So sad when the young ones pass away. It's just not the natural order of things. I can't imagine the grief his parents must be feeling. I'm very glad that you can help them through this tough time. Scrapping is much less important. Prayers for all of you.

03-04-2013, 09:59 PM
Maurine, prayers are with you and the family. I can't imagine losing a child. Bless you for your kindness toward them.

03-05-2013, 12:23 PM
Maurine, so sorry to hear about the family and their loss. Thank you for letting us know. You all will be in my prayers.

03-05-2013, 01:20 PM
am so very sorry to hear of your neighbor's loss...and I am sure he was pretty much like an ADOPTED son to you as well. I know he would be to me.
There are no words that can take away the loss or pain, but I want you to know I will be thinking of you and the family, our prayers are with you all.

YES, you do what you need to do to help this family get through this. They are blessed to have you in their lives at this time.

We [this group] can wait, we are NOT your top priority at this time. Thank you for sharing this with us. Take care and if there is ANYTHING I can do to help you or for you, just say the word. <3

See you when you get back.
May God Bless you and the families of the boy who has passed. <3

03-06-2013, 09:10 PM
What a terrible, sad loss. May he rest in peace. He and his family and yours, as well, will be in my prayers. It's good that you are helping to provide support for them. God bless you all.

Thank you all so much for the messages you've left me here and the personal e-mail ones you've sent. You are truly a blessing in my life; I couldn't ask for better virtual friends! I am a firm believer in things happening for a reason, even when it sometimes takes years to understand what that reason was. For now, I'm going to let this serve as a reminder to me that life is precious and way too short ~ and renew my commitment to take every opportunity I can to let those around me know that they have value and are loved and strive to be an even better wife, mother, neighbor, and friend.

03-07-2013, 11:08 PM
(((Maureen))) We're so sorry to hear of your friends passing. I can't even begin to imagine loosing a child. I know after my injury 11 yrs ago when I died 3 times I sure do look at life differently now- I take nothing for granted. Live each day like it's your last as we never know when it will be our time. For me, yes it bites to be a paraplegic and in a chair but life goes on! Our thoughts and prayers go out to you and your friends family/loved ones. Thank you for ALL you for us!

03-07-2013, 11:41 PM
I have been off the computer a lot due to carpal tunnel and just today came to the forum. You are surely a blessing to your neighbors during this tragic time for them. The sorrow they are feeling must be almost unbearable and yours feeling their pain. I pray God blesses them and you with peace and comfort that only He can give.

03-08-2013, 01:31 AM

I love this color palette and the cute spring-y elements.

You're not fooling us, Maurine; you picked "5-ingredients" for the theme because you've had it with proofreading all our cards! Next month it'll drop to "3 ingredients or less" :DD Thanks for a new, fun challenge.

Some adorable cards out here already.
Sorry to hear about the tragedy that has affected your life, my thoughts are with you.
Thanks for finding the time to finish up this lovely little kit for us, as always, I love it.
This is kind of 5 or less, if you use a spoon to eat it off of :) (just being sacastic).

My contribution and a hint: The recipe does not call for the cereal to be crushed at all, but I do crush it slightly using a ziploc bag and my hands. Seems to adhere better to the chicken.

My kids LOVE the meat out of the Swiss Steak recipe, but they don't eat the veggies. If you kids don't like carrots just scrape them off before serving and they should eat the meat fine :)

Oh My! I'm so sorry for you and the family!

This months kit is lovely and feels very springish! Love it! <3

03-13-2013, 08:47 PM
This was a recipe that I made when I was a kid that we lovingly referred to as "Green Stuff".

My mother had spiral bound recipe cards. We would pull a card out, put it in the typewriter and hand type the recipe. This card made me walk down memory lane. I plan on printing copies and sharing them with my brothers and sister this weekend when we all gather together for dinner with my 83-year-old father.

03-13-2013, 11:37 PM

More candy from my family. It's about time I got these into recipe card form.

Try this with frozen peaches, or mixed berries for a quick, easy and relatively low calorie, low sugar dessert. (Do not choose a pudding in the mix cake mix).

Here's a delicious and easy-peasy chicken crockpot recipe. (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/recipe-card-challenge/p123003-hawaiian-crockpot-chicken.html) Serve with rice--you can add pinepple tidbits too if you want, and top with toasted almonds.

03-25-2013, 09:42 PM
Here's another recipe for March. This cobbler is quick and easy . . . and oh, so good.

03-26-2013, 07:59 AM
I have been preparing chicken this way as long (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/member-galleries/p123020-cranberry-chicken-crockpot.html) as I've had a crockpot--and before that in an electric skillet. Fast, easy, delicious---serve with noodles, rice or potatoes.

03-26-2013, 03:37 PM
I really had to think if I had some 5 or less recipes that I haven't shared. I did find a couple recipes from my past. I used to make these all the time as a youth.

First up is Cinnamon Flop. I could eat this right now!

WOW! There are some really great recipes this month! Thanks Everyone!
I decided to share my HOW TO...for how I make my homemade biscuits and gravy. Of course I prefer HOMEMADE biscuits or the Pillsbury FROZEN ones, they taste like homemade, too! My hubby prefers the CAN biscuits...YUK! I think they taste FAKE! But that is just my opinion! LOL
Here's my preview

I also made an INDEX card, you can find the preview in the photo gallery:))
If you try this recipe, please let me know your thoughts on this. As I stated in the gallery, Can MILK works best, but you decide. If you use can milk, you might want to keep the gravy on the thin side when removing from heat, as it thickens as it sets. ;)
Thanks, Maurine, for another GREAT kit and idea for this challenge!

03-28-2013, 02:10 PM
Ever have the hankering for something sweet when there is nothing sweet in the kitchen? This recipe came from that feeling. I love McDonald's little cinnamon bits, so here is my version.

Here's mine:

I just stirred up this year's "batch" of Stained Glass windows, (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/recipe-card-challenge/p123215-stained-glass-windows.html) and wanted to share this pretty and Easter-y Candy treat. I made the background paper out of Maurine's buttons, because when you cut through the candy logs, the colored marshmallows look like these buttons. You can color the coconut green, if you want it to look like Easter eggs in grass, or you can use white marshmallows (the taste's the same) If you don't like coconut, try rolling these logs in chopped nuts or coarsely granulated colored sugars.

Hint: I put on rubber gloves, and mix this all by hand. It is a very messy recipe while the chocolate is warm. ALSO, I think the quality of the butter you use can make a huge difference in the candy. My batch today was done with some "Irish butter" I had in the freezer and it is a really GREAT batch!

Thanks so much for participating this month! I love all the new recipes I have to try with very few ingredients -- what wonderful ideas and cards. I'm now closing out this month's challenge -- hope to see you back in April!
