I'm starting this thread for all of you to post ideas and suggestions on what you would like to see in the Heritage Challenges. Each of us are different and I would like to see all of your ideas incorporated into the challenges. When enough suggestions have been added, I will set up a poll so that we can vote on which we would like to do most. If we have lots of suggestions, perhaps we can put a poll up each month and choose a monthly topic a little in advance. You are all so faithful to post your lovely layouts, I can't wait to see what you come up with here.

Family Traditions....for everyday. Like, not holidays or birthdays, but little things, like making sure we all have dinner together, or staying up late with the kids in your bed to talk through the week...stuff like that.

A favorite relative from childhood...not immediate family.

Your favorite place as a child and/or teenager.

Things your parents never knew. <evil grin>

Just a few suggestions.

i am working on a Childhood digital book. One of the pages contains pictures of my husband and I as babies with our birth certs. Another is from my grandparents wedding clip from the paper, their invation and current pictures. Other pages have pictures as far back as 1830.

I was first attracted to SAS because of your genealogy section. I love doing the other challenges and scrapping my grandchildren...but their parents are doing it too. I NEED, want and MUST do the heritage photos !! I am the memory keeper for the OLDEN DAYS. Any help or inspiration at all is appreciated . Time period themes with journaling seem to be my biggest hurdles. I got some info on my relatives in the civil war. Trying to get my dad's ww2 info. How to scrap this info by era .Any inspiration at all is welcome.

Like Joba 2 - I am the only person left in my immediate family to record our ancestry. I have tried to get the younger generations interested without much success. They enjoy looking at what I have assembled but do not seem interested in assembling their own.

I need as much help as possible with learning how to scrap heritage photos with special emphasis on journaling.

To help my history journaling I have started backwards. I choose a memory or thought and then write everything I can remember about it. Do some editing and THEN look for pictures that compliment the memory or time frame. Most of the time if I start with a photo I get writers block. Doesn't always work though, darn.

An idea for the challenge is to do gravestones or documents about an ancestor.

A picture family tree might be fun also.

I too, like the idea of a document challenge. I would love to see how people would do a layout of death certificates and census records. Marriage and birth certificates are fairly easy if you have pics but not many people have death pics. I thought maybe using pics of the job descriptions for a census document might be good or maybe a family photo of the people included on the census. But I would love to see other peoples ideas.

In a lot of my layouts, I get comments about the memorabilia. I have my great grandfather's hunting license, some ration coupons from WWII, my great grandmother's paycheck stubs from th 1950's. I collect antique paper things too, so I scan a lot of those things and use them as the elemetns in my heritage layouts. That might be a net idea, personal antique elements.

What I think is the most neat, and if we have old photos, a lot of them have it, is flipping it over and scanning the handwriting on the back. The actual handwriting of my relatives from back when is very personal and very precious. So how about a challenge showing the backs of the photos?
