Both kits are by Candee (CanDesigns) The first was her very first kit.=) And the second is a combo of "Loving Hearts" and "Mermaids Heart".

This one I just posted yesterday in the gallery.I like it because I am scanning in my kids poor photos from the 70's to try to restore to preserve the memories. It is part of my goals for 2008

I don't see anything wrong with any of those first LOs. I think they're all good. I don't think I have my first two any more as they were 5x7 instead of 12x12. I always intended to redo them and didn't. I'll have to look and see what I've got.

I was right, I can't find my first one. This was one of my first five though, and it was published in an edition of Scrap Street Magazine. It's terrible that I can't remember which one now. July, I think? I didn't like how it came out when it was compressed for the magazine, so I've blocked it from my mind. lol

I have so many favorites. Right now this is one, not only because of Sherah's lovely papers, but because so much white space is out of character for me, lol.

and because I'm terrible at following the rules, and I really can't pick, lol, I love this one of my friend's daughter. It was the second time I partially colored a b&W, the first time being a photo of my girls. But hers came out better because of those gorgeous blue eyes.

i can't find something wrong either,
it's all a question of personal taste.
but i remeber very good how i felt doing the first layout.
I#ve already collected several gb of freebies
and found the first kit i purchased.
but there was a add-on for this kit
and i absolutely wanted to have that.
the only possibility to get it was participating in a challenge.
i looked through galleries for some hours until i decided to start
and it took me very long until i was satisfied with my first layout.
it cost me all my courage to finally post it
and even now (about 9 months later) i think it wasn't that bad.
and when i look around to all the first layouts,
they aren't bad at all

I agree, they are all very good LO's!! I think many of us started scrapbooking w/i the last year and styles have changed quite a bit during this last year. Grungy now seems to be the 'in' thing and lots of journaling on the background paper.

I'll really have to go digging for mine and see if I can even post it. It was done in July 2001 in Microsoft Publisher!
this was one of my firsts. I started in July of 06 the kit is by Selena Ledgerton Cooper..

These are all so good. I love looking at first layouts. My first layout was done 2 years ago and I had no idea about good shadows.

I have two favorites. The first one I liked because the journaling is a lyric that is so true for me. I had a very hard time (and still do sometimes) of not being overprotective of my son. I went through some severe postpartum depression with him when he was a baby and was convinced something horrible was going to happen to him. I literally didn't sleep because I was always holding him so I would know if he stopped breathing. Thankfully, I have not gone through anything like that with Claudia.

And my second favorite just makes me laugh every time I see it and remember what a goofball my son is.

This is one that I did shortly after that and I just adore it because of the pictures:

and here's a current favorite of mine that I just made last week:

Well, I had to scan them in to show it. This was a two page layout. The background on the 2nd page was the front of the Rally program, scanned in and lightened.

Done in 2001 with M/S Publisher. Clip art all from Microsoft.
I have a lot of layouts that I really like, but this is one of the favorites
