View Full Version : Blast.... all bad things come in threes. or fours, or......

Things just do not seem to be going right for me, right now...

It is very busy at work, we have several vacancies, and so far we seem to be unable to find the staff, so we have been working our tail off for the past months, or, rather for the past year or so.
I am taking this year's holidays on left-over holidays and overtime from last year. I am absolutely knackered, and I really need a break.
I have the next 3 weeks off, we were planning to go camping, but the weather is dreadful right now, and it seems to be rather bad all over Europe.

The day before yesterday, my PC crashed, and now I am working on a laptop, whoch is rather slow and inconvenient. I took my pc to the shop, thinking the video ard needed replacing, but it tuns out the motherboard had broken down. The processor and memory won't work on a modern motherboard, so what I need is a new pc. The only thing I can still use is the hard disk.

Yesterday, I went for my annual ****** examination, as there is a genetic predisposition for ****** cancer in our family. And they DID find something, this time. It is not adequately suspect to merit an echogram, but I do need to report in in 6 months instead of a year.

Today, I took my father to the lung specialist for his check-up. He is doing OK, considering, but hot, damp weather is very bad for him, he will have no nergy even to eat or drink (or rather: to get up and get some...). So he will have to learn to switch on the air conditioning BEFORE he feels too tired because of the heat, or to call in someone to help him. if he cannot manage. Fortunately, the specialist agreed with me that he is not a burden to anyone for asking a little help, but getting sick and requiring a lot of medical attention, he WILL be a burden to a lot of people. Hopefully, this will stimulate him to ask for help before it is too late......

All in all, I've had a **** of a week, and then, just now........

Holland won the group championship for the European Football Championships, so they are through to the quarter finals.
They still need to play one match, but they beat world champion Italy and vice-champion France, they can lose the third match and it will not matter at all, and the entire country is celebrating!!!!

No mater WHAT the weather is going to be like, we are in for a hot summer!!!!!

Ahh you know the saying when it rains it pours. Sounds like you have had some rough times and my thoughts are with you. Hugs to you.:)

Oh Jiskefet, I know how those kind of weeks are! Makes you just want to go outside and scream at the top of you lungs, doesn't it? I hope that things improve for you real soon and, if they don't, do try that screaming thing, it is a great stress reliever! LOL, just be sure to do it in a remote area or to warn your neighbors beforehand so they don't send the police to investigate.

what a week!!! really enough problems for a much longer time.
I wish you all the best for your father and your ****** examinations.
don't work too much and if eberything is getting too much for you,
really try the scream thing, i sometimes do that in the bathroom, no-one ever called the police ;)

i'm sure you will have fun with a new pc,
it's really nerve-racking to scrap on a slow laptop.

In the Football Championships our team wasn't as good as yours,
after winning against poland, they lost against Croatia,
so let's see what they are doing tonight against Austria
(austria shouldn't be a problem)

Last night after the match of turkey they all went crazy here,
the turkish fans were celebrating all night doing fireworks and blowing their car-horns. for hours the traffic was jammed.
I'm not interested in football at all, in fact i don't like it, to many people fighting after the matches and too much alcoholexcesses and i hate all this chaos,
i'd rather sit at home watching tv or listen to music, but you really can't understand even one word

I hope your next week is going to be better

Well, I have been on holiday for a fortnight, I've got my new pc, en Germany did a lot better in the championships than Holland, in the end :D
It just goes to show....

But it seems I have missed a few things at the forum... I did not check it out very much when working on the laptop, and then I went on holiday, of course. So I will have to sit down and read the messages and visit people's blogs (if the thunderstorm doesn't come too close, or I will have to swich off the pc and pull the plug out)
No use risking lightning damage on the new pc. If it strikes an energy or telephone cable anywhere near, it could mean a lethal power surge, and my new pc might be history.....

It never happened to me, so far, but it did happen to the pc's at work, once, end the lightning had struck about a mile away. So I will not take the risk...
