How to use styles in PSE?

I have a couple sets of styles that I picked up as freebies, and I've never used them because I can't figure out how to use them. Can someone send me to a good tutorial on how to install and use styles? I only have Photoshop Elements (5.0).

You have to copy file to subdir of photoshop named 'styles'.
Then on top of Layers Style tab, there's pull down menu with just copied styles. (photoshop CS)
