You may have noticed many of our SAS-y Ladies and staff are all dressed up for the holiday. We’d like to invite you to join along in our first ever Avatar costume ball.

There are several sites that offer free avatars complete with costumes. Some we used are:
http://www.meez.com
http://elouai.com/candybar4/dollmakergirl.php
http://uk.avatars.yahoo.com/.

Once you’ve created your avatar and put it into your profile, come post in this thread to show us your costume. Everyone who comes to the party will take home a goodie bag of Halloween brag books made by our wonderful SAS-y Ladies using the September Halloween Mega Kit.

I've never done an avatar before, but it sounded fun! Luckily they even had a "pregnant" one!! Bet you never saw a pregnant fairy before!

Oh I love it! You're a lovely fairy. BTW, if you want to show off a full sized version of your fairy, you can insert it into a post, but clicking on the Insert Image button in the reply box (the thing that looks like a mountain) and copying in the URL for one of the bigger avatars. I really like the animated ones.

OK this was fun. It was a bit of a learning experience, but that is good. I look forward to see everyone elses Avatars. I opted for that was more a costume rather than just Halloween. http://i316.photobucket.com/albums/mm350/gorskiki/avt_gorskiki_large.jpg
(OK it took a little bit of doing, but I finally figured out how to get a big picture. )

Here's mine, not too scary, but I think I would opt for something like this if I were to go trick or treating, We Aussies don't celebrate this though I do get kids in the street asking me for lollies if I am out and about on that day. They don't dress up though they just have a plastic bag and ask for lollies off strangers, a bit of a worry actually cause there are usually no adults/parent with them. Sorry got a bit off track LOL!!

Oooh I didn't think about posting a bigger picture! Now you all can get the full effect of the pregnant fairy!

I had such a hard time trying to place my avatar in my profile! I had to settle for the head shot, only. However, I am placing the larger, full-sized avatar here:

What fun!!

I'm trying. Let's see if I've got it added.

Nope, it didn't work. I looked up the info an Avatars here but it's not helping me.

How do I get my Yahoo avatar from Yahoo site to here?
Thanks

On your Avatar Home Page, on the right-hand column, there is a topic called "Export". Then, on that page, there on the right, again, is the topic, "Using Your Avatars on the Go". Beneath that there are directions. You will also see where your avatar can be changed into URL or HTML, which you can use to upload it here.

I know, I had a heck of a time. That is why I know how. I just did it a few hours ago. LOL

Hope this works for you.

You have to save it in GIF or PNG. JPG, or JPEG, is a static image - it doesn't "move", whereas GIF or PNG does. 'Kay?

oh wow!! the costumes look FABULOUS!!!! Great job ladies!! :D

Instructions on how to get your avatar to show up in the forum:

1. Go to User CP

2. On the left hand side, under Settings & Options, click "Edit Avatar"

3. Under Custom Avatar, you have two options:
-Enter the URL to the Image:
if you were given a URL, you can paste it into this box
-Upload Image From Your Computer
if you saved your image to your computer, you can browse for the image with this box
4. Click "Save", then go back to "Edit Avatar" to see if it worked!

Instructions on how to insert an image into the body of the post:

1. First, you have to make sure you have a URL that you are getting the image from. If you saved the image to your computer, you have to upload to a photo hosting site (like Photobucket) first before you can have it appear in the forum post!

2. Click on "Post Reply"

3. Inside the posting box, find the button on the toolbar that looks like a mountain, if you hover over it, it will say "Insert Image" Click on this and another box will appear.

4. Paste the URL into this box, making sure to delete the "http://" that shows up in the box first, otherwise you will have a double "http://" and the link won't work! Then click OK

5. You will see in the posting box a code that looks like this:
[ IMG ] Your URL Here [ /IMG ] This is what you want!! You have to have the IMG code wrapped around your link in order for the image to appear in your post!

6. Click "preview post" to see if the image is showing up! If not, go back to your code and make sure you have the beginning code and the ending code around your link, and you don't have a double "http://" at the beginning of the link.

Hope this helps you guys with posting images! It took me forever to figure it out myself! LOL! :D
