View Full Version : Freestyle Challenge for November '08
11-03-2008, 03:16 AM
Greetings, all Challenge-seekers!
Here is the participation bonus to all who will accept my challenge this month. Let's focus on the word "free" in Freestyle. Here's what I would like you to do ... We all know butterflies are free, right? Here is a free kit, which I created especially for my last birthday.
Download Part 1 here (http://soulopen.com/stcr_birthday_surpr1.zip)
Download Part 2 here (http://soulopen.com/stcr_birthday_surpr2.zip)
Using only the items from this kit, please create for me a page with the theme/subject of "freedom." You may use fonts or alphas not created by me, of course, for your title and journalling, but that is all that is allowed. :) And you may use your photos, too.. ;)
Let's see your Freedom Page!
Thanks for joining in ~ it's much appreciated!

Thank you Stella. What a beautiful kit! Butterflies always remind me of my mother. She went to a program held by the cancer center every year that she was able where each cancer survivor released a butterfly. When she and my dad both passed away from cancer within a few weeks of each other we had a service for both of them that all of the distant relatives could attend. We released butterflies at the ceremony as a symbol of them breaking free from their tired earthly bodies and taking flight into their new lives. I found this poem which was perfect to read before releasing the butterflies and I included it. Here is my layout:

When I saw the theme, I had to play. :) It looks a bit sparse to me? Oh well - I have much to learn.
Thank you for those beautiful papers and embellishments - I just had to use something a bit more... boy. :D I'm going to use them for something for one of my girls very soon. ;)

Ok - I did it right this time... I used NOTHING but what I was supposed to. I had forgotten all about that pic (it was taken this summer) - but it worked out perfect for this challenge. :)

What a beautiful array of layouts you have gifted us with this month!!
I absolutely LOVE all of them and they will be my most precious memory of SAS.
Unfortunately, I will be leaving at the end of this month, November, and I won't be posting any more Challenges.
I wish to thank you all especially for being so supportive of my challenges, which I have so enjoyed creating for you.
I'll see you around SAS, but no longer as a designer, just as a member.
PS: If you, reading this, would like to submit a layout for this challenge, it is still open until the 30th, so feel 'free' to do so. :)
