You will receive a coupon by Personal Message to buy this kit in the store HERE (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=13_192&products_id=3891).

The assignment and rules are the same as last week ladies :)

Create a SINGLE 12X12 LAYOUT using as much of the kit as you can to promote it as much as possible, whilst still keeping your page, including shadows and layers, BALANCED AND EYECATCHING.

By Shadows I mean they should be consistent, all in the same direction and relative to the distance off the page that particular element or paper is.

Your layout should be resized to 600 x 600 pixels before uploading to the gallery, otherwise your layout will get stuck in the queue.

In this round you must:

post a link to the kit in your description and you must credit the designer and kit
mention any changes besides adding shadows. so if you added a bevel or glow or cropped anything you must say so in the description area when you post your page.
Post your layout in the Week 3 Gallery and also the designer's gallery then post the (week 3 gallery) url link from the address bar here in this thread so that we know you have posted and can go leave you some love.
If you have a legitimate problem getting your layout up on time, ie computer issue or internet connection problem or a studio upload based problem, let us know BEFORE THE DEADLINE BY PM MESSAGE and we may make an exception, otherwise all pages must be uploaded by the deadline.

Once you have uploaded your 'official' entry for the week you are not to edit it in any way once it's been uploaded to the gallery. You can do as many layouts as you wish but doing more than one layout will also mean any votes you get will be for the layout not for you as a contestant, so keep that in mind. More layouts may mean less votes for you in the poll in the long run.

POST DEADLINE : MIDNIGHT EST Sunday 19th September

POST YOUR LAYOUT IN THE LAYOUT ARTIST COMPETITION WEEK 3 GALLERY (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=1153).

POLL FOR VOTING : will go up in a separate thread just after MIDNIGHT EST SUNDAY NIGHT

POLLING CLOSES : Midnight est on Tuesday 21st September

25 contestants will go on to round 4
A new thread with those who will be going on and the new week 4 assignment will be posted on WEDNESDAY 22nd September ALL CONTESTANTS MOVING ON IN THE CONTEST WILL RECEIVE THE NEXT KIT BY PM MESSAGE.

No offering freebies or any other incentives for votes
You can blog about the competition and you can have a banner or blinkie or such in your signature to advertise that you are a contestant
You can have "Please vote for Me" in your signature or banner/blinkie or on your blog just don't offer anything in return for votes in the poll.

A silly question about posting the LO ,when you wrote Designer's Gallery do you mean my personal gallery? Thanks

Designer's Gallery means post it in the designer of the kit's gallery so in this week's it will be posting it in the round 3 gallery and also on the second page of the upload process choose Designs by Moo for an extra catagory.

hope that helps Marzia :)

and no it's not a silly question hun!

My entry for this week. Thanks for the great kit!

I think I asked this WAY back in round one, but I need to ask again, as I go hunting for inspiration (got the kids part down, more how to organize the layout, maybe), if I get inspired by a layout in a gallery on another site and choose to attempt to kinda scraplift, how would you like it credited???

09-16-2010, 01:39 PM
What fun I had working with these wonderful colors and designs.

in reply to the scraplifting question in round one mitsybelle said
"You may be 'inspired' by another layout but please make it your own "

so no copying another member's layout but taking inspiration from another layout is fine, you could put inspired by "name of layout" by "name of member" and put a link to their layout so we can see you didn't copy it LOL.

thanks for asking TJ I am sure others are wondering the same thing :)

Getting company, so I'd better get this posted. This kit was fun to work with and definitely forced my brain to go outside-the-box! Maybe too much so, note how the rain is moving off the right of the page as the sun enters the left. Deep thoughts! Well, it's moving day in the forest . . . I'm with you ladies. This was more of a challenge for me this week. I made 2 LOs and trashed them before my final one. Not sure what the issue was. The kit is fantastic, it is filled with all kinds of fun elements. Just keep going. You can do it.

Okay, here's mine for week 3.
I was a little worried at first - being a mom to all boys I wasn't sure what I could do with pink. But there were so many other things to work with in the kit that I think it came together okay.
Thanks for another great kit!

09-17-2010, 09:57 PM
Here's mine! What a beautiful, bright, colorful kit... I decided to do B&W photos because of the brightness of the kit, and I really like how it turned out... hope you do, too :)

Very nice job, everyone! The gallery is so bright and festive looking!

Thank You Moo Designs!!!

I have added my layout of my great-grandchildren to the challenge gallery here:

Thanks for looking and thanks for your votes.

Ok I hope I have not made the wrong choice here.. But after much thought and scrapping this is my favorite from the bunch.. I love the clean simple lines and magic of it and I just hope enough people out there do too!!

I will have to agree - I also had two or three attempts that I trashed before settling on this last one... This kit was hard for me because it's not something I would normally choose to scrap with, so I had no idea what I was doing with all those adorable elements! My first page was a mess, I had EVERYTHING on there, I loved it all so much! LOL! I envy you ladies that can scrap those fantasy layouts, I don't think this Tomboy has any fantasy in her!! :l Or the patience to put it all together!

Well it's interesting to hear how many of you found this kit a challenge :) And this is the kiddie round not the fantasy round yet, maybe I got the kits mixed up LOL. I am loving every layout this week, it just gets harder and harder each round to choose which ones to vote for.

Off to the gallery I go to leave some well earned loving :)

09-18-2010, 06:42 PM
Oh yes Tracy you're right, such wonderful layouts in the gallery this round, amazing how you've all used this kit :)

09-18-2010, 08:25 PM
Okay - I actually love this kit, but maybe cause I have an adorable daughter to use for my subject matter. This is mine:

Best wishes to everybody as we progress into the 3rd week voting.

09-18-2010, 09:53 PM
I love the fact that alot of you had difficulty with this kit because when you CT for a Store you will on the odd occasion get a kit you would not normally pick for yourself and the fact that you have all done such gorgeous layouts shows what talent you really do have in being able to work with different style kits :) Remember this is a competition so it really should be a 'challenge' in some ways :)

09-18-2010, 11:36 PM
I'm back just checking in to see what's happening, and I love reading all the posts in this thread! This kit was awesome to play with, it's so cute and novel. I too found it to be a stretch for me and knew it would be when I unzipped it and looked it over. In thinking on it, it occurred to me that we all work so hard in our daily grind doing what we have to do that we are probably so much on the serious side of life rather than indulging in much fantasy. I decided to walk backward through my photos for help with fantasy inspiration after I had taken time to get the kit parts well ingested into my mind. I found the fact that the design of that rainbow was not the normal arched rainbow normally seen to be sheer genius by the designer! That alone spoke to me as a first thought step. The green ribbon wreath frame seemed to call out to me secondly as a portal, and with those two elements firmly planted in my brain the entire rest of my page came together easily once I happened across one of my photos that spoke to me of a fantasy idea. I actually had a ton of fun putting the page together, using so many of the elements, and feeling much like a child while doing it. It occurred to me while working on it that in real life it's not often that we get the pleasure of feeling that way. Once you take a first step with this kit, the inner child in you will emerge; and that was a pleasureable ride for me. It was like getting to the top of a hill and taking a slide ride! I'm just glad to read everybody's thoughts on climbing that hill. I think the layouts in the gallery are simply awesome, and I'm always amazed how well the pages are put together. There are so many truly creative folks right here! I'm really happy to have gotten this far, and I think I'm scared now that Ambowife has mentioned a fantasy round. Yikes! At least I won't be feeling alone in my fear maybe! Good luck everybody!! I love being a part of this fun experience!

09-18-2010, 11:46 PM
Well, I finally got it posted! I too struggled with this one even though I had girl pictures to use!! So many cute elements made it hard to choose and I wanted to use them all in some way! Finally settled on this with the help of my 6 year old grandaughter who is the subject of my page - she kept saying put that in and I would say that is too much! She won out on a couple of items! Beautiful kit! Here is mine - http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=65737&title=october-16-2009&cat=1153

Oops almost forgot that I resized some of the items but did not make any other changes to anything!

09-19-2010, 01:33 PM
I wasn't sure I was going to make it this week, but finally had time to sit and scrap. I haven't even looked at the layouts so far, but now I'm looking forward to seeing what everyone has done with this kit.

Here is mine. Image is linked.

Don't be put off by the word Fantasy Kit, the idea is to show how versatile a kit can be too so using a Fantasy kit for a non fantasy page is totally fine, it's getting the kit to work for you and your photos, I think you will all do fine with the week 4 kit. The 25 of you who go through that is, I am not looking forward to the big elimination numbers this week :( this whole month has been a fun ride for me and Jeanette :) we are loving hosting this challenge and competition, it's amazing to see all the different ways a kit can be used by so many different scrappers from all over the world :)

Just under 5 hours left to post if you haven't yet :)
Then we'll pop the poll up!

09-19-2010, 07:29 PM
Finally got my scanner to work so I could use an older picture of my daughter.
What a fun kit to play with. The LO is called A Sweet Spring Day (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=65803)

The changes that I made were
*erased part of the pink butterfly wing to make it appear to be in the grass
*lowered opacity of cloud and duplicated to fit in better
*erased some of the bees back legs so that it is sitting on the swing
*duplicated layer of 2 of the blue flowers and then adjusted top layer with screen blend mode so you could see them easier
*erased parts of pink doodle to fit design of page
*erased part of the grass leaves to make appear catepillar is crawling thru.
(noted in description in gallery, also posted in Design by Moo gallery)

Wow - after three tries, I really got this done! I settled on a photo from my childhood, which is very dear to my heart, and in which I am engaging in the type of daydreams by which this kit is inspired. Thanks for letting me play with this kit, and finally get this photo scrapped! I chose to leave the tattered edges and sun-bleached, aged, look of the photo, rather than editing it, in part to contrast the real and fantastic as they blend together.

09-19-2010, 08:50 PM
What a fun kit! I was a little intimidated when I downloaded the kit because it is not my normal style. We've been moving this week and last night was the first chance I had to work on my layout. I had a lot of fun and it wasn't near as hard to work with I thought it would be. Unfortunately I still don't have access to all my pictures, but am happy with how these turned out. I look forward to using this again with some pictures of my daughters when they were little.
