I need something new to mix it up! I don't care if it's the main dish, side dish, dessert... I just want to try something else.

What's everyone's most loved recipe (that you are willing to share:D)

I don't really have a recipe, but my favorite T-Day dish is TURNIP!! I wait all year long for turnip!! mmm-mmmm!!! I also love Green Bean Casserole and last year I gained a new favorite... hubby's gram made some concoction of roasted red potatoes & beets and it was DELICIOUS!!! There were other things in it, too.. but I don't remember... BUT!! I do have a recipe for the Pumpkin Whoopie Pies I make every year... they are a HUGE hit at Thanksgiving! I think I posted the recipe last year... I'll have to go find it... ;)

I can look for my recipe for Pumpkin-Apple Pie with a crumb topping, if you're interested... My husband thought it was weird, till he tasted it... then he wanted it every year for Thanksgiving... he always remembers it and asks me if we'll have it this year?

Fantastic recipes Angel! I'm thinking I'm going to work on a cookbook for my kids next year... the oldest keeps calling (he's in "his" first house) for how-to cook things.

Kelly, I would love to try that! I made banoffee on year, an english thing, and it's been a favorite we now can't live without. Will you share?

Sure, I *think* I know where the recipe is...we've moved three times since then, so my husband will be glad to see it, since if I find it, I can make it this time!

Another thought on the classic sweet potato casserole is using orange juice or coconut milk as your liquid, and last year I folded in whipped egg whites before baking. The OJ goes nicely with nuts mixed in, too, and a nut/sugar/butter crumb topping. The same for coconut milk, but substitute coconut for some of the nuts.
(whoops, just checked the recipe above, and saw that her topping is what I just described. I grew up with marshmallows on top, so I automatically assume that's what everyone else does, lol!)
And, yes, Banoffee is huge here, too, all year long. My husband is so thrilled we finagled the recipe out of someone! Goes great with your after-dinner tea (or coffee, as the case may be). but take a SMALL piece!

Hmmm thanks Kelly! I think I might try that one. I love apple, and pumpkin and I need a new pie.

Our guests are bringing the traditional American green bean casserole. I have never had it!

Now I need to think of a good side dish. I hand mash potatoes, make my own gravy, got the sweet potatoes... what am I missing?

I'm thinking I'm going to make this: Classic Baked Corn Pudding (http://www.bettycrocker.com/recipes/classic-baked-corn-pudding/d335a106-7103-4cdd-906c-f63e14b9bf89). We like to have corn on the cob but I think this looks good.

Oh yum! I'd love to try that... but we are now overflowing with starches. I'm going to put this aside for a different night. This will be a great winter sidedish to try out.

How about Corn Pancakes?

Ingredients (4 servings):

1 can of corn (about 400 g)
2 eggs
salt
50 g flour
1 TB sour cream
pepper
brown sugar
1 TB butter
1 TB oil

Drain corn and catch the liquid. Puree half the corn with 2 TB of the liquid and strain (is that the right word? - you want to get the puree smooth).

Separate the eggs, beat the egg whites until stiff and put aside.

Mix the yolks with a pinch of salt, then add the pureed corn, flour and sour cream. Put in salt, pepper and brown sugar to taste.

Carefully fold in the stiff egg whites and the whole corn kernels.

Heat butter and oil in a pan and bake small pancakes.

Toiny... you've never had Green Bean Casserole?! I love it! one of my favorites... :DD

My Mom makes these things called "Stuffin' Muffins"... My grandmother always made Pan Stuffing along with the traditional stuff-the-bird Stuffing... so my Mom decided to be different & took her recipe for Pan Stuffing and made Muffins out of them... and they are AWESOME little bites of stuffing!! Especially if you soak them in gravy... mmm, mmm! I've put in a request for the recipe.... hopefully she'll get it to me BEFORE Thanksgiving! :rolleyes: :l

Something our family loves is mixing up a bunch of chopped veg (bell peppers, onions, carrots, green beans, potato or sweet potato, parsnip, turnip, zucchini/courgettes, yeah, pretty much whatever fresh/frozen you've got on hand...). Throw 'em on a rimmed baking sheet, drizzle w/ olive oil, and then sprinkle on lots of your favorite herbs and spices, or a seasoning salt, to play it safe. Roast 'em on a high temp and stir several times, till they reach desired doneness. I like to cook them till they brown nicely; this would (nutrition-wise) overcook them, but it caramelizes the natural sugars in your veg so nicely, and makes anything taste nice. I've even mixed in broccoli or brussels sprouts on different occasions, and they tasted great! Super easy, cooks with whatever you've already got going, no need for a special shopping trip, looks pretty, and all your veg is in one bowl, so it saves table space! Great, huh?

And that's a great idea Kelly. I've had that before & I forgot how much I like a mix of roasted veggies.
