:DD Happy Spring Everyone!!! :DD

And, for those of you who DO actually have Spring in your part of the world.... I am completely envious!! We have snow today..... SNOW!!!!!! Me thinks Mother Nature is playing a very cruel April Fool's Joke on us this year!

Enough of my boo-hoo'ing, let's get to the FUN!! This is going to be a very easy, laid back, fun challenge! :((

Our very own Eva, the talent behind eqrAveziur Designs (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=index&cPath=13_238), has graciously provided us all with some adorable Easter Egg Templates for this challenge! They are sooo C.U.T.E.!!! Wanna see? :DD

http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/sharedimages/Kimberkatt/Aveziur-EggTemplate-preview.jpg

Told ya so!! ;) So, here are the rules: Use the templates and make your own eggs! That's it, that's all... let your creativity loose! Pop 'em in a basket, make an Easter Scene, create a layout with them, or just decorate the eggs themselves, whatever you wish to do! The only requirement is that you have to use the template to make at least ONE egg. You can use anything in your stash to decorate them with! When you're done, post them in the Egg-cellent Template Gallery (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/g1236-egg-cellent-template-challenge.html) and post a link back here so we can all see your beautiful eggs!!

And, just for participating, you'll all get a lovely pack of Brag Book Pages from our CT/Designer/Admin Staff made with the brand new April Mega: Classic Easter (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=237&products_id=6985)! :DD (psst - it's ON SALE for only $5 the entire month of April!! ;) )

I am still using PI!E after 5 1/2 years because I am an idiot on PSP and gimp. LOL Don't laugh too hard. I am old but not ancient, just only partially computer literate. I have taught myself nearly all I know about computers with a little exasperated help from my geek son. He does gaming instead of creating so has never used PSP or gimp.

totally NOT laughing, Barb! I have no idea how to use PSP or Gimp either, lol

So, do you guys need PNG files for the templates? I can get them to you, if that's the case... I'm also assuming that you can "clip" papers/textures to the PNG files, correct? Or fill them w/ color?

Have you used other layered templates before?

Sorry for all the questions, just trying to narrow down how to help you guys play! :DD

Wait a min - the egg templates are PNG's - you should be able to open them up in your program, right?

Is that the issue, or is recoloring them the issue ? I think I've confused myself again!! LOL!

I too am having issues! How do you color/make the template accept color/pattern paper? It is black and white for me and when I clip a paper or photo to it, it turns B&W. I am using PSE8 (have not had problems with templates before) Thanks for your help.

Let me see if I can help you. The templates are in grayscale, so you must change it at RGB. I don't know in PSE8, but in CS5 is Image/Mode/RGB color.
Have that sense?

Joan, great job with the eggs! :D

Ah-ha!! If you can't find where to change the mode in PSE, let me know... I have PSE on my desktop computer, although I don't use it that much anymore, so I can figure it out for you when I come inside in about an hour or so! ;) :DD

Thanks Eva!! :XX

Kimberkatt & Avezuir,
Here is a link to see the eggs that I designed from Avezuir's template and then put them into a LO. I really enjoyed doing this challenge it was great fun and I loved the results of my LO and everyone elses, too.
Hugs,

Here is mine. I use PSP and Corel Draw. There is an easy way to avoid the grayscale templates if you are going to use a paper behind the template. Open a new file and fill with a color or pull a paper into it. Then pull the template into the file. Easy, it is now a color file not grayscale. If you are not going to use a paper, change to RGB. I used a paper from Maurine's (Let Me Scrapbook) Spice Rack kit. I made the basket in Corel Draw. I find it a lot less difficult to draw in that program. The eggs and templates for decorating them were provided in the challenge. Papers came from the colab kit Bella Luna, AHeartline's Love Collection, and the Japan charity kit. Thanks to all. It was so much fun.

I use PI! also, because that's what came on my 'puter and I have no money for anything else. While I don't design my own kits, I can do a mean LO. I have NOT, however, figured out how to use layered templates, filling each shape/layer with a chosen paper, for example. The chooser thingy picks up the COLOR you click, but not the whole paper, then you can tweak the color and do gradients. It can be frustrating for sure, so I usually don't even bother with temps, other than to "scraplift" the general LO. HOWEVER, I did see a LO here with eggs that might be doable. You know, maybe not, I don't think you can even assign a color to one particular shade of gray, I think it does the whole darn thing, because it won't separate the layers. Urgh. Thanks for wanting to help though!! (And I'll keep watching here to see if there's something for me to learn!!)

Thanks for the fun. It has been a while since I decorated eggs. My boys are too old for that now. Here is a layout I did of my niece:
