View Full Version : Week 2: First Look

06-06-2011, 01:41 AM
Hello all!

Welcome to Week 2 of our Capture the Moment contest. This week all LO's must be created using Booland Designs fantabulous: Softer then Springtime Page Kit (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=137_138&products_id=7152). Please check your PM boxes for your free copy of this kit.

Softer then Springtime Page Kit (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=137_138&products_id=7152)

The rest of our contest revolves around the seasons of the year. And capturing each of those seasons perfectly. We are starting with spring. Spring is all about new. Rebirth. First look.

Your assignment is to capture that first look and scrap it to perfection. Whether the first look is off a flower, animal, baby, your first love... capture it.

This LO must contain at least 1 photo, but may contain more.
You must use a minimum of 2 papers.
You must create one cluster with the elements in the kit.
There must be journaling. How does this represent "First Look" to you?
You must post the LO in the Week 2 Gallery Week 2: First Look (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/g1260-week-2-3a-first-look.html)by midnight (EST) on Thursday.
Big smooches,

I have a question... I know, a pain in the behind I am, I always have a question. :l

This week all LO's must be created using Booland Designs fantabulous: Softer then Springtime Page Kit (http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/forum/../store/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=137_138&products_id=7152). Does this mean that we are not to incorporate any other items, including our own? I'm asking because I was thinking I might like to use an alpha for titling.

06-06-2011, 10:53 AM
Beautiful kit. Thank you.

06-06-2011, 11:37 AM
LOL Rose, it wouldn't be right without a question from you.

The answer is "no". Nothing but the kit. You may, of course, use the papers/elements to fashion your own Alpha, but you may not use another pre-made one. :XX

As I suspected, but thought I'd ask to be sure... I ended up doing something different anyway ;) - I'm off to post it now.

Thanks for the awesome challenge!

Sorry I am long winded..........
I had to just go ahead & post this one (before I chickened out). I started out nervous when I knew that I needed to use a pic of myself, I just dont do that. As I started working onthe page, I started feeling the sadness of missing my little granddaughter. I realized that I needed to write this in a letter form to her. I am so emotionally drained at this moment. I have been crying for the hours that I have put into this.
Thank you Toiny, and Team for coming up with this kick start for me to make this for her.

Here is my entry. This was a great challenge. I tried things that I hadn't done before so I'm still learning.

06-06-2011, 09:42 PM
Here is week two of the challenge. I had fun doing this. For me this has been a personal challenge to do better.

The season of Spring we celebrate renewal and rebirth through color and light, and into our lives also being aware that the colors change with each season. Spring of last year we celebrated with the birth of Jake. He has been a bundle of joy and one of the happiest babies since arriving on 8 May 2010. The greens represent growth and new beginnings and the yellow is associated with light and the sun. Yellow is also the color of happiness and joy which Jake definitely was to all of us. Blue is the color of heaven and the color of peace and harmony. All new babies represents peace and harmony, happiness and joy and definitely new beginnings of a new life.

i hope this is what you meant:

thanks for the fabulous kit to play with.

I got mine done! I liked the idea of clustering a frame around these pictures, of my nephew and his wife and daughter as they awaited the birth of their second child. I love this kit, and this was a fun challenge!

I still can't make a picture appear in the thread. Can someone explain how this is done? Thanks!

I have finally finished mine. This is, after all, a new experience for me to be a winner here at the studio. I think I had to pick my chin up off the floor when my name was on the list. Well, I got my chin picked up and worked on this layout arranging and rearranging the cluster layers until I liked the result. This is a lovely kit to work with. Thanks Boo, the Studio and Toiny for letting me play with it.

Ayla, I'll give it a go at helping you...
To start, you should upload your layout to the gallery first. Once that's done, follow these steps (note, I use a PC, if you use a MAC then things may be a little different):

While on the web page of your layout in the gallery, left-click on the image and, in the sub-menu that comes up, choose 'copy image location'. (I then paste that into notepad for later reference because I often am doing multiples and the copy and paste commands only handle one thing at a time - however, you could instead just keep the various web pages open in other tabs for reference.)
In the forum thread where you want to insert the image of your layout, be sure to choose 'Post Reply' rather than using the Quick Reply at the bottom of the page as you'll need access to the image icons that you only get with the former choice.
Within your post, click on the image-icon at the top of the text box (looks like a yellow-ish square with mountains and sun) - this will open a dialog box for you to enter the url location (the one you copied in step 1). Note - keep the code that already appears there as selected (highlighted) and copy over it to assure proper copying of your address.
Your layout image should now show in your post.

If you want also to make the image active (take people to your layout when they click on it) then that is done the same way as if you were link text, select it (the text or image) and using the link icon (earth with chain-link) enter the url address for the layout.

Hope this helps you.

Just as I did for the first week, I did an ATC for this week's "spring" theme. And I think I found the perfect picture, one that matches the colors in the beautiful kit provided for us. (Thanks to Booland Designs).

To say I was intimidated by all these layouts is an UNDERSTATEMENT! Super nervous!

Oh. My. Wow. I'm blown away, and just to be in the company of these "professionals" is such an honor! Here's my layout which tells the story of my friend's celebration in having a baby.

I really enjoyed this. Thanks so much for the kit and the challenge. Here is mine:

Journaling on tag:
Texas has some beautiful spring wild flowers. Every year my husband and I plan a two day car trip around the state to see this wonderous splash of color. With cameras in tow, we make our way around some of the most breath taking country I have ever seen. I am always reminded of this quote and like the Texas country side, I am always rekindled with hope.
