I'll keep a list here of FAQ's and their answers - also feel free to post any questions you have!

Q. i understand no templates in general...but if i create a shape myself can i cut out a paper with it?
A. You can use shapes that you have created or that came standard with your software.

Q. also no WA or alpha's. if kit does not come with an Alpha can we create our own Alpha/WA with papers and elements in the kit using fonts only?
A. Yes

Q. Can I use a photo mask? If not, am I allowed to create my own by using PSE7 default brushes?
You can only use a photo mask if it's included in the kit, however, you can make your own using default brushes that came with your software.

Q. How does the voting work?
A. Members will vote in the first 3 weeks, Admin & Designers in the final (Week 4). A poll will be created and Members will select a specified number of layouts as their favorites. Each week a certain number of participants will go through to the next round - the exact number will be determined after we have closed the sign-ups and determined the final number of participants.

I've noticed in the gallery a "rating system." I'm fairly new here, so wondering what that is and how it is supposed to work. Of course nobody wants to get less than a 10! Is there a scale somewhere that tells what your ratings mean?

I cannot figure out how to create a link in words rather than the html address. What am I missing?

First copy the URL you want (so you can easily paste it in rather than trying to remember it and maybe make a mistake - I paste it to notepad and then go back to it when I'm ready as sometimes I get sidetracked and copy something else along the way which makes the link no longer paste-able).
Then type the word or words you want.
Select/highlight those words.
In the menu bar, click the button of the earth with a chain link over it.
In the window that pops up, paste the URL you want.

Take the red * out
so it will be

then the address of link
then words you want highlighted
finish it up with
then a slash

Could you please clarify for Round 3.
We now need to post to these 3 galleries:
LOA Week 3 - http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/loa-2011-3a-round-3/p83214-sweet-memories.html
Booland Designs - http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/g608-booland-designs.html

Appreciate your clarification on this!

I am a bit confused? The round 4 instructions read a bit, like there is one more week after this round? Is that the case?
Thank you.

that's how i read this too. the orginal ad said 4 weeks and 4 kits sept.1 - 30. the week 4 assignment said members can vote this round and 8-10 will move on. that will move us past sept. 30th and without a kit. and that the final round (which would now be week5) is NOT open to members it is judged by the studio admin/designers. i'm sure its a typo/mistake somewhere but it would be nice to have it cleared up. :)

I have commitment issues for the first week of October. I was under the impression, this contest would be completed by then?
I will make a page as I have already downloaded this kit, and will see if I even make the next round. :D
