Re: Show us your Tree!!
Yes, a little different... this one concentrates more on the actual photograph, and being creative with some different techniques ;)

Re: Show us your Tree!!
I'll be happy if I get a picture of my tree and get it scanned. lol I doubt I will be playing with techniques, besides if we do all of that stuff to it..it won't be pretty anymorer. Isn't bokeh a distortion of a picture? What is lightning? Could someone show me what a tree with bokeh, lighting, and some of these other things done to them. I use a layout program not a designing program like pse and ps, so I don't have all of those choices.

Re: Show us your Tree!!
Here's my tree this year. I used my DSLR with the flash off, fstop of 4.3 to get the bokeh effect on the lights. Then in Photoshop CS4 I added a burnt edge, did a sepia layer and then removed it from the tree to show the color. I did the same for our star to give it a glowing effect since it's not a lighted one. :)

http://www.robertsdonovan.com/?p=702 A way to 'fake' it if your photo is all in focus...duplicate the photo layer. Filter > blur > gaussean blur Move the slider until you like the amount of 'non-focus'. Then erase [I prefer mask] the part of "blur" away so the focus shows thru from the layer below. m |

I love Pioneer Woman's site, and she has a bit about bokeh that you might find interesting ;)

Re: Show us your Tree!!
I got this far, still working on the tree and ornaments.

Re: Show us your Tree!!
My tree has bell lights which change colour in a random order. I managed to capture the yellow to green, and the red to blue sequences, but I couldn't capture the blue to yellow, or green to red changes. I love the way that the blue lights reflect back off the cream carpet close by.

Re: Show us your Tree!!
My tree angel, hand made about 10 years ago. For over 40 years, I have always had an angel on the top of my tree, originally made from a barbie doll dressed by me . I replaced Barbie after 30 years (her wrinkles were showing) and re designed her outfit. Sadly we have lost her halo...must create a new one before Christmas.
<img src="http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/data/1356/tree-angel.jpg" /> The tree angel we created for my daughter's tree- she has the most beautiful shelties and this is as close as we could find. Just love the sparkly red wings we made for this angel. <img src="http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio.com/gallery/data/1356/dogangel.jpg" /> |

Re: Show us your Tree!!
My tree is up! I've done about 30 trees since the first of Nov but not at my house. Hooray. The text reads "When we were first married and then children came, we were cash strapped like most young people. I learned to make Christmas ornaments out of most anything from blown painted eggs, to deodorant caps (the snail) or shaving creme tops (the drum). While we now have many elegant ornaments from travels all over the world and 40 years of dated Hallmark ornaments, I always make sure at least one egg, a snail and a drum make it onto the tree. It reminds me of how lucky we are now and how resourceful we were then."

Re: Show us your Tree!!
I hope you just want the photograph, not a layout! I played with hubby's starburst filter. It may be too much, looks almost like a grid! But, I kinda like the effect.
