July 2012 - Surprise Me! -Border Challenge
 

Sometimes when I create a layout, I want the photograph to be the only thing on the page, except perhaps for a date and/or very little text. Yet at the same time, I want some added interest. I have found that borders really come in handy when I find myself in this spot!

Last month we did a Border Challenge! I was absolutely over-the-moon with excitement to see how many of you participated and what amazing variety we saw! I'm going to take a risk and repeat the challenge again this month... with a slight twist......

My challenge to you this month is to create a layout where you use one photograph to tell your story...and to create a border to coordinate with your page. You may use any kit you like, and you may also use templates if you desire.

The twist? This month there will be a few requirements:

1. Use 3 different papers... somehow.. anyway.
2. One element that you choose to use in your border must be duplicated at least 3 times in your border design.
3. You must use stitching somewhere on your border.
4. You must use one piece of greenery.

That's it for this month. Easy, peasy, right?

I am up for this one, i would be interested in a border challenge each month with something specific to do for it
like the sound of using stitching will see what I can come up with- is it okay if I use things from more than one kit, the one i want to use doesnt have stitching in it

Hi there! I am still on vacation, but the hotel we are in today has great Internet so I just had to jump on here to see what you all have done!
Love your gorgeous flower photo, Tonisha. You did a marvelous job of matching the photo colors with your border colors!
The double-border, Cyndi, is unique and a great idea! Love it!
Jody, your clustering is amazing, as always, and I love the background treatment as well!
And, Claire, it is OK to use multiple kits!

I forgot to say .. I think a border challenge each month would be a great idea.. I guess it would eventually run out of ways to work. But could be great for a fair amount of time.

Claire and Patty - thank you for joining in and for your interest in having this challenge every month. I love the sea photo you used, Clair, and the beautiful border with all of the sea elements. Patty, I really like the 2 papers you have stitched together, and the flower/ribbon cluster is so feminine!

As Jody said, perhaps after a while it will play itself out, but for now, I think it is really fun to see all of the different border designs.

I cut the red paper triangles and the gold swirl shapes. And made my own stitching.

Yes, I do like the Border Challenge - would love to see it continue for awhile.
