Layout Contest: Round 2
 

In addition to all of the beautiful kits we sell here at theStudio, many of our designers have amazing templates you can use to kick-start your layouts! Designers need CT members to play with templates as well as kits to help show off how they can be used. So, this week we will be doing that.

This week is a template challenge. Those moving on to Round 2 will receive a PM with a coupon code to pick up this template pack by Aimee Harrison Designs. You must use one of the templates for your layout. If you can not use layered templates, use the template you choose as a sketch for your layout. (Those not moving on, will receive information on the second chance contest later today).

For the kit, you must select a kit designed by an artist in the Next Designer Contest. It can be a kit from last week or one from this week. Their kits for this week are due the same time your layouts are due, so if you'd like to see what they offer, you'll have to wait a day or two!

The challenge is to showcase both the template and the kit to the best of your ability. Minor adjustments to a template are fine, but when using them for CT work sticking to the basic form of the template is important. This week, you are allowed to use any fonts you like, but only for titling, journaling and adding a date. Please do not use fonts to create shapes. You must credit any fonts you use when posting to the gallery.

You MUST properly credit everything you use. This includes linking to where customers can find the products available at theStudio (items sold here, you do not need to link to the contest gallery. You do need to credit the designer of the kit though). You do not need to link to the fonts. Please credit the template pack, even if you use them as sketches.

This round, no exception, you will be eliminated if you do not properly credit your layout.

Layouts are due September 12 at 24:00 Studio Time (Eastern Time)

A question ... may we use more than one of the kits?

After putting some thought into this, the answer is yes. You may use more than one of the kits, but you MUST make sure you credit properly. So if you use 2 kits, credit both, if you use 10, you must credit all 10 of them. Bad credits are instant disqualification. So keep good track of what you use!

I see someone mentioned using more than 1 kit. I would assume one would only use the one downloaded designer kit though. And if so, doesn't that give someone 2 chances to win....with either of the pages whichever is better? Sorry, just trying to get a handle on this one.

Hi, I think that the question refers to mixing more than one kit on any 1 layout not doing multiple layouts. Someone wll correct me if I am wrong but I am pretty sure that is what was meant. :)

This is such a terrific challenge. Using the kits created for the designer contest is such a cool idea! This should be fun!

WOW!! My day has been made. I have been eying those beautiful templates from Aimee and now to be able to use them with all those fabulous kits----double WOW!!! Thank you!!!

Use 1 template and as many of the kits from the contest to create 1 layout. The round one kits are smaller so I can understand wanting extra elements this round.

Yes, Molly is correct. Only 1 layout but you are allowed to use as many as the mini kits you want from the NDC contest to create that 1 layout. Just make sure you keep a good running list of everything you've used to create that 1 layout for proper credits ;)

I think I am waiting to see what Round 2 has in store before I do my layout though!

No problem! This challenge is different. We have never done a template challenge or had you use the contest kits before!

For anyone having trouble with the coupon code, try typing it in. Make sure you don't get any extra spaces at the beginning or the end. I think that's where the trouble is coming from!

I like the way this challenge is set up! There are some beautiful kits already in the gallery, can't wait to see what else is posted! Good luck everyone!
