Photography Contest Week 2

I'm so excited to have this new, fantastic Photography Challenge join our annual Next Designer Contest & Layout Artist Contest. Please note: you can join all three.

Our Photography Challenge follows the same time frame as the NDC & LOA. All challenges will be posted 6:00 a.m. EST Monday and due by 23:59 EST per the scheduled dates:
  • Round 2: Challenge begins Sept. 9th, Due Sept 14th by Midnight
Note: The Grand Prize Winner is determined by a random drawing of participants in all four weeks. You do not need to win, merely submit an entry each of the four weeks, to be eligible for the Grand Prize drawing on September 30. The Grand Prize Winner will receive the MCP Four Seasons™ Photoshop Actions (or elements version).

Week 2: Photography Challenge!
The winner this week receives Jodi Friedman's fantabulous MCP Autumn Equinox™ Photoshop Actions (or elements version).

Your challenge is to shoot a Fall Colors photograph. This does not need to be a photo of trees changing colors, it can be any photo where the color adds to the story. Please include your camera settings and/or editing techniques in the description under your photo.

Jodi has a great how-to tutorial on her site: How To Transform An Image Using MCP Fusion Photoshop Actions.
Note: This tutorial uses the full MCP Fusion™ Photoshop Actions for sale in Jodi's store. You can also try this with the MCP Mini Fusion™ Free Photoshop Action!
  • The first photo challenge is open for photo submissions from Monday, September 9 - Saturday, September 14 at 23:59 EST.
  • Photo must be on theme: “Fall Colors”.
  • You must have only ONE image in your submission. No collages.
  • One submission per member.
  • This must be your original photo.
  • This can be a recent photo or an older photo.
  • This cannot be a previous contest submission, whether on our site or any other site or place.
  • All submission must be posted in the Photography Contest 2013 gallery by September 14 at 23:59 EST.
  • Site affiliates (CT, Designer & Admin Team) cannot win prizes, however, they can participate.
  • One winner will win: MCP Autumn Equinox™ Photoshop Actions (or elements version)
  • Winner will be announced Monday, September 16.

Does it actually have to be fall colours? I have some fabulous photos I took at a tulip farm, but definitely not fall colours. It's Spring here and right now all I see are pale pink and white blossoms! Not that I'm minding that one bit; it means summer is on the way. Goodie!!

Love, Love, Love all the information being provided! I'm grabbing a cup of coffee so I can sit back and enjoy reading through all of it.

Not, it does not need to be the stereotypical fall colors, but it does need to be full of deep, rich, vibrant colors. Tulips have some very vibrant colors that would work well, though I fear most of the spring blossoms over there will be too pale.

WHEW, glad it doesn't have to be fall colors! We don't get fall here until around November and by the time I get back to Michigan in two weeks----now THERE is fall colors---the challenge will be over. Even though I'm not in the running for the prize, I will see what vibrant colors I can find out there. Do sunrises and sunsets count? We sure get some vibrant ones around here!!
Good luck to everyone who is entering. Can't wait to see your beautiful photos!!

I haven't put these in our gallery (I'm still deciding on which pic for the gallery), but I just wanted to show you that we DO have vibrant spring colours here in Tasmania!

No need to recolour these Danielle......they are straight out of the camera, no editing whatsoever!

I've got heaps more of those tulip photos. I took them a couple of years back at a local tulip farm. I had just got a new camera at the time, and I spent an entire morning just taking photos. The colours are incredible and in some of the photos I've managed to capture the transparency of the petals in the bright sun.

Robyn, those colors are so vibrant! Just magnificent! What great captures you got! PuSticks, I love that you showed the before and after shots! You did a beautiful job on your photo. I took this photo in 2009. I used an HP Point and Shoot camera. I played with the levels just a little to lighten up the sky.

Each fall, one of our fav activities is to visit a apple orchard - so apples mean fall to me!

Here's my "participation only" entry:

Added texture, and I also did a little mask/boost of color to the apples in the foreground.

I couldn't resist taking this picture.... The white rock in the middle of the purple, red and green just begged for it. LOL

I took the picture over the weekend. I was so happy that I had a chance to go out and see the heather finally blooming, and since it has been getting colder, it won't last long and it will go dormant soon.
