Fabulous! I love macro. We are driving home to Michigan and I took some awesome macro shots of some flowers at one of the rest stops. What amazes me is I took them with daughter's phone!!! They are better than what I could have done with my camera!

I love macro too--I really wish I had a real macro lens.

It must be early because I got a kick out of finding a fresh and new photograph that can be recent or old.

Think I'm in for this week. I have a whole series I took in the spring at the lake. :)

The only Macro lens I have is for underwater so here is one of my favorite subjects- Christmas tree worms! They are so tiny and cute, and they don't swim away from you like the fish do! This was taken off the coast of Roatan, Honduras in about 30 feet of water.

That is fascinating. Unfortunately, at the moment, I only have a point and shoot camera. I'm hoping to get something else for Christmas.

Macro is just an up close and personal shot correct?

Toiny 09-25-2013 01:05 PM

Re: Photography Contest Week 4

This is correct. You can get amazing shots with a Macro lens, of course, but you can also get them with a regular camera, a little skill & lots of patience.

I once had a macro lens. Dane used it as a musical instrument several years ago. Sigh.

By some definitions, a macro photograph is one in which the size of the subject on the negative or image sensor is life size or greater. However in other uses it refers to a finished photograph of a subject at greater than life size. (Wikipedia)

You can take macro photos with any camera or lens.

I love taking macros, that's part of my job. LOL :((

Here is my macro photograph. I don't know how new the berries are, but I always think of dew as being fresh.

Here are some tiny little mushrooms. They can be about 1-2 days old, still newborn. :) Hope they are fresh enough!
When I opened the picture on my laptop, recognized the little fly. Didn't even know it was there, it is so tiny! :)

I tried all week to get a new macro shot, but since we have no flowers in our garden, it was hard to find something interesting to shoot. The dew shots, just didn't work for me either. So here's mine:

Taken May 29, 2013
The kids and I found this eggshell on the sidewalk. We were hoping it was a fresh and new little robin?! The other half of the eggshell was stepped on; since it didn't have any bird goo, we assume it hatched. We carried this part of the egg shell back to our house and I took some photos. I liked this photo because you could see the sharp edges on the back half of the egg contrasting with the mulch, but the front edges are not quite in focus.

Cannon PowerShot SX260HS
ISO 640
10.2 mm
0 EV
f/4
1/80
Ran just a bit of a High Pass Filter, no other editing
