Welcome to the final week of theStudio's Hybrid Artist CT Competition!
You can find general rules & info here.

| Week 4 Challenge |
Home Décor

Our final week is all about home décor! Like most people I love to personalize my space, and hybrid makes it
so easy. With virtually endless selections of digital papers, elements & fonts plus the ability to recolor & alter
items, you can create decorative projects to match pretty much any room or season.

Here's a set of hybrid wall art I created for my "away" apartment when I was traveling constantly for work
(and as usual on a tight budget!). The artwork is entirely digital, printed on transparency then mounted
in frames from Target I found for 50% off. Add rhinestones & voila! Artwork. 8)

Hybrid also presents fantastic possibilities to create amazing recycled (aka upcycled, reused & repurposed)
home décor crafts. Easily transform thrift finds, bits of materials from around the house and inexpensive
supplies into charming custom décor. Take a look at this fabulous project from Design Sponge:

http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6163/...7d3e365f_o.jpg http://farm7.static.flickr.com/6161/...25353a15_o.jpg

This adorable key rack was created from a piece of wood from around the house, a piece of paper,
glue & 2 screw hooks. You could easily hybrid-ize this project and make it match your home perfectly.
Recolor or add a monogram, favorite quote or photo... endless potential!

| Week 4 Instructions |

Create one (1) hybrid home décor item as follows:

1. Use at one (1) non-scrapbooking physical supply from around the house.
(Examples: wood as in the project above, a container of some sort, a picture
frame, sign or plaque, etc.). There is no need to purchase something expensive...
it's perfectly fine to repurpose something you already have!

2. You may use any digital kit currently available in theStudio's Shop.
If you need assistance with suitable digital supplies let me know by PM. I'm happy to provide
a few papers from my shop (or similar supplies from my shop) that suit your project if needed.
Remember you can recolor or alter your digital supplies in any way!

3. Upload your completed project to the Hybrid Artist CT Competition Gallery no later than 30 Sept 11:59 PM.

4. You must list proper credit for ALL supplies used to complete your project.

| Objectives |

We're looking for these important hybrid skills:

1. Use a digital product to create something for the home.

2. Ability to see the possibilities your hybrid skills can bring to basic or
worn items around the house. Freshen or brighten your space!

3. Ability to photograph your hybrid project to show off its beauty.

Remember if you intend to participate you MUST sign up by 28 Sept 11:59 PM!
Feel free to chat & share your projects in this thread!

Lol, I'm still playing, but as a lurker, I guess! I'm so tired and busy with (still) waiting for this baby to be born, I haven't been able to keep up, but I am working on the projects. just not competing... :0)
I'm really excited about this new one, as I have a project in mind I've been wanting to do for a while!

(sigh)
due date was last week; with it being my third, I was expecting sooner rather than later, but babies come when they're ready (right?!?)

How'd you know?!!!
My MIL came a week earlier than planned, just in case - I hate to say it was a waste of money, we've enjoyed the visit, but....

LOL! Learned my lesson the hard way. When my best friend had my godson 4 years ago I was working out of state. With the first 2 little ones she had scheduled inductions and all went fine, so I made the incorrect assumption it would most likely be fine to schedule myself home during her scheduled week. The baby decided to show us who was really in charge and she went into labor a week before schedule. I missed it entirely.

Do calendars or holiday decorations count for this category?

I hope these are appropriate for this round. I made decorative but useful containers for my daughter's room. I love how they turned out. I think there will be more things like this in my future :)
Not bad for $2 plus some supplies I had laying around, huh!

Well, I really had to rack my brains for this one as I am more used to making cards, gift bags and calendars. Whilst I would have loved to have made a calendar, I just didn't have the time, so I made a Christmas wreath which I am going to use to decorate my office later this year:

The wire ribbon was left over from last Christmas (it was on sale cheap but I ended up not knowing what to use it for!) so it was perfect for the wreath.

Here'mine...I used Fall Frolic by MarieH Designs and made a pillow.
I made a LO (8.5 X11 inches) on a transparent background. I reversed image and printed it out on Xerox Color Ink Jet Iron-On Transfer Paper. I then ironed it on a piece of cotton fabric. I added both leaf and round buttons and a ribbon bow. I made a pillow and stuffed it with a pillow form. All items are from my stash! I am so happy to be able to use some of my sewing supplies!

So many clever projects! I did bookplate Halloween ornaments for a little Halloween tree. Check them out. and here.

There are lots of close ups, too. Just page along. Sorry to flood the gallery.

Re: Hybrid Artist | Week 4 Challenge | Home Décor

Well if I made it in time, I was probably just under the wire (please let me have been in time!!!!). This week was hard just due to the things going on with the kids this week so I almost just threw in the bag at even trying but with my husbands encouragement, I was cutting right up until the end tonight.

I decided to make a calendar that can be on the side of my fridge for my girls to change the date on each day. I didn't want to make it too easy so I'm actually just going to leave the other pumpkins spread all over for them to have to chose how to make the date correct for each day. I'm homeschooling my oldest and therefore my middle one as she doesn't want to be left out.

So I used a sheet protector and some old magnetic strips (oops forgot to list those in the physical supplies) from my Mommy calendar's to hold the sheet protector up and then I have magnets on the back of the pumpkins for them to then place over the month page each day. Probably what I will try to do is laminate these to help keep them from getting wet and dirty from little hands, but just didn't have enough time prior to taking the photo to upload tonight. Tomorrow's only the first right? :) A project for during naptime and the girls will be set then. :)

I had so many other ideas this week... just ran out of time. Oh well. It was fun. :XX

btw Angel, can I ask, what are the requirements if we do get selected?
