-esha-, there are two different types of measurements, solids and liquids/fluids.

Solids - grams translate to ounces, 8 ounces = 1 cup, 16 ounces = 1 pound (You usually see pounds referenced for meats. These items can be measured on a scale.))

Fluids - millilitres translate to ounces, 8 ounces = 1 cup, 16 ounces = 1 pint, 32 ounces = 1 quart (These items are poured into a measuring cup.)
