I just posted a
tutorial for apply a puzzle effect to a photo "from scratch" in Photoshop. It helps but isn't critical to have advanced beginner - intermediate level Photoshop skills (create/use clipping masks, layer styles and masks, paths and the pen tool) for the tutorial - I think you'll be fine if you can apply a bevel and emboss style.
