Default Recipe Card Challenge ~ March 2012

Recipe Card Challenge Gallery

* * * * * * *
Here are the instructions for this month's recipe card challenge/exchange:

1. Click HERE for this month's starter kit. The majority of your card(s) must be made with this kit to ensure all the cards “coordinate” with each other. Feel free to use additional CU items to enhance your cards (for example, brushes, actions, etc.). The starter kit will be free to those who used the prior month's starter kit to create and share at least one recipe card.

2. The general theme for this month's cards is your favorite CHEESE recipes ~ the post below this one includes more information. Be creative and have fun with your cards! If you need different metal tags and don't have them from previous kits, send me an e-mail and I'll make them for you.

3. Design your recipe card(s) however you'd like. Include your name, forum name ~ whatever you want ~ on the card.

4. Create your original card at 6" wide X 4" tall (1800 and 1200 pixels) and save it as a 300 ppi jpeg, quality between 8 to 10. These are the print-quality cards that will be shared with all participants. You will also need to resize your card at 72 ppi to post in the gallery.

WHEN FINISHED with your card(s), do the following 3 things:

1. E-mail your print-quality, 300 ppi recipe card to LetMeScrapbook@hotmail.com so it can be included in the download file at the end of the month. Several participants have asked for blank copies of the cards you design, so if you're willing to send me both (with and without the words), that would be great!

2. Upload a picture of your 72 ppi card to the Recipe Card Challenge Gallery. Please upload only your actual recipe card ~ not the blank cards.

3. Post a link here in this forum thread no later than March 31.

At the end of the month, all participants will receive a link to download all the cards created that month. Bon appétit!!

I've had bits and pieces of this starter kit done for awhile; it finally all came together. This color palette is so different from any of the other kits I've done before -- I hope you'll like it! I'm excited to see what you come up with!

There were 3 ideas in our suggestion thread that mentioned CHEESE, so that is going to be our general theme for this month. If you have a recipe that includes any kind of cheese -- cream cheese, Parmesan, Swiss, cheddar, grated, sliced, blue/bleu, goat, feta, etc. -- then go for it! I'm hoping for sweet recipes like cheesecakes, comfort foods like macaroni and cheese, sandwiches, casseroles, soups, salads -- anything goes.

I look forward to another month of delicious ideas! : )

I just sent coupon codes to all February participants so you can get this starter kit. If you did NOT receive that, please send me a note so I can figure out why. I look forward to seeing your cards!

I will be on vacation and away from my computer for the next week or so. If anyone posts a question here and needs help, I'm hoping some of my long-time friends and much-smarter-than-me-people will provide the answer. Talk to you soon...

Happy vacation Maurine! Hope you will create some lovely memories!

Love this month's theme, as a Dutch girl and having lived in France for years I'm all about cheese. It's one of my daily essentials. I love all cheeses, especially the handmade, the ones you'll find on the French local marker and luckily more and more on my local Oregon farmers market!

Anyone ever tried their hand at making your own? Once you have mastered making yogurt, making cheese is easy as pie! ;-) Maybe I'll make what we call in Europe Quark pie.

Thanks for the cute set. It seems that cheese was a great choice as there are so many good tasting dishes that contain cheese. I am sure it will not be hard for anyone to come up with a good idea. Have a great vacation, Maurine. When you return the gallery will be full of new cheesy recipes!

Cute, cute kit! Here is a recipe for the queso blanco dip that is found in Mexican restaurants here. I make large batches and freeze it so I always have it on hand. Love it!

Hope you have a great vacation. Thanks so much for the kit and the challenge.
Here are my recipes. Like all of us, I love cheese in so many things. This month I decided to use one of my favorite cheeses, cream cheese. I love it in so many things - main dishes, veggies, snacks and sweets. So all but one of my recipes uses this wonderfull cheese in a silver box. Thanks for looking.

I don't have many recipes but luckily, I did have a cheese recipe. This was my husbands favorite dip. He liked it so much he would even make it himself. It is also the only recipe I have that he had written out himself.

Here is my recipe for Cheese Biscuits
Ingredients:
1 2/3 cups all-purpose flour
2 teaspoons baking powder
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon baking soda
1/4 cup shortening ( I used real Butter)

Directions:
1. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, baking powder, salt and baking soda. Cut in shortening until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in cheese. Add buttermilk; stir just until dough clings together. On a lightly floured surface, knead dough lightly until easy to handle. Roll into a 12-in. circle. Cut into eight wedges. Begin at wide end of wedge and roll toward point. Place biscuits, point side down, on a greased baking sheet. Bake at 450 degrees F for 12-14 minutes or until golden brown. Serve warm.
