Hi all, and welcome to day 1 of the Build-a-Gingerbreadhous PS!
Disclaimer: These will be no directions to bake an actual gingerbread house! I'm sorry if I managed to confuse somebody....I will give you some freedom what exactly you will create with the templates, papers, elements and styles you will download in the next five days, basically there are two main versions: 1. a gingerbread house layout - in today's download you will find a very basic house template (I'm not the queen of templates, lol). Feel free to adapt it in shape and size, add more windows etc, use another house template you have in your stash or create your own! If you want to use your layout as advent calendar, make sure you will have 24 openings (doors and windows). No restrictions on size - go small for a Christmas card, big for your scrapbook or huge for a wall advent calendar. 2. a little hybrid gingerbread house - in today's download you will also find the template to decorate and eventually print and assemble a small paper or cardstock house. If you want to use this as an advent calendar, you will need to make 24 of those little houses, number then and fill them with little surprises. If you do no attach a roof, and use cardstock to print the house on, you could also put a tealight in the house (in that case, cut out the windows to let the light shine through) Your task for today: Decide what you want to do (you may do all options if you want to, lol), place your doors and windows on the templates and turn the walls and the roof into gingerbread. I created some gingerbread styles and a paper to get you started, they are included in today's download. Save your work and post it in the Christmas in July gallery and leave a link here in this thread so I can pm you with tomorrow's download. I almost forgot - here's your download link: Day 1 If you have any questions, feel free to post them here! ETA: Download does include separate .png files for the layered templates now. Hi, Min! I hope this is what you mean...
![]() I am doing a 12x12 page. I've edited the shapes a bit for my personal "slant" on it. LOL

Question Min....can we decorate the house to our liking using other papers on the doors and windows, or should we stick with only the gingerbread paper you gave us?

What a Shame I can't play along as there aren't any PNG files and I don't have any house templates.

Kim, what do you need? The download includes .psd and .tiff for the templates. I can save the layers as separate .png files - would that help?

Used my cereal texture for the house and chimney and the gingerbread style for the roof. Never built anything before so I'm stumbling right now.

Ok, here's mine for Day 1, I have a 'vision', now whether or not the vision is a good one, who knows.

Great work so far
![]() FYI - I changed the download so it does include the separate .png files for the layered templates. |

So glad you answered some of the questions I had about this. Glad it isn't as strict as the normal PS...
![]() Okay... I am a rebel and want to show the front and side of the house. I actually am going to try to do a page with this... hence the location of the parts of my 'house'. Leaving space to add stuff to decorate not only the house... but also the space around it, too... we shall see.

Probably over thought this but I can't have blank layers in Scrapbook Max (that I know of) so I decorated each individual PNG layer. My 6 year old helped so this is a joint effort with Nick.
