Default Recipe Card Challenge ~ July 2012

Recipe Card Challenge Gallery
* * * * * * *
Here are the instructions for this month's recipe card challenge/exchange:

1. Click HERE for this month's starter kit. The majority of your card(s) must be made with this kit to ensure all the cards “coordinate” with each other. Feel free to use additional CU items to enhance your cards (for example, brushes, actions, etc.). The starter kit will be free to those who used the prior month's starter kit to create and share at least one recipe card.

2. The general theme for this month's cards is your favorite recipe for “BREADS” or items made with “HONEY” or “PEANUT BUTTER.” ~ the post below this one includes more information. Be creative and have fun with your cards! If you need a specific metal tag and don't have it from a previous kit, send me an e-mail and I'll make it for you.

3. Design your recipe card(s) however you'd like. Include your name, forum name ~ whatever you want ~ on the card.

4. Create your original card at 6" wide X 4" tall (1800 and 1200 pixels) and save it as a 300 ppi jpeg, quality between 8 to 10. These are the print-quality cards that will be shared with all participants. You will also need to resize your card at 72 ppi to post in the gallery.

WHEN FINISHED with your card(s), do the following 3 things:

1. E-mail your print-quality, 300 ppi recipe card to LetMeScrapbook@hotmail.com so it can be included in the download file at the end of the month. Do not share your print-quality card on your blogs or through any other means without my prior approval. Several participants have also asked for blank copies of the cards you design, so if you're willing to send me both (with and without the words), that would be great!

2. Upload a picture of your 72 ppi card to the Recipe Card Challenge Gallery. Please upload only your actual recipe card ~ not the blank cards. You may also post a copy of your 72 ppi (web version) on your blog if you’d like, and then include a link to the forum in case others are interested and want to participate.

3. Post a link here in this forum thread no later than July 31.

At the end of the month, all participants will receive a link to download all the cards created that month. Bon appétit!!

I fell in love with this adorable clipart and color palette – it was an easy decision to make HONEY one of our primary themes this month. In our house, honey is a must-have on scones, and my husband’s favorite “sandwich” is toast with honey and PEANUT BUTTER, so I’m including that as one of our themes as well. And of course, this seemed like a logical time to include BREADS as another option. A couple of people suggested breads and rolls in our idea forum ideas and suggestions forum, and I’ve also had some e-mail messages requesting this, too, so feel free to do those recipes as well.

Even though these 3 items go so well together, your recipes can be whatever you want as long as it includes one of the ingredients. I did a quick internet search and found lots of delicious recipes with honey in them. I’d love to see recipes for peanut butter cookies or peanut butter bars, bread pudding, zucchini bread, or cinnamon rolls. Anything goes – I can’t wait to see what ideas you have to share.

IMPORTANT NOTE ABOUT SHARING YOUR CARDS:
As a general rule, I will share the print-quality version (300 ppi) of the cards you create for this challenge with the other participants; they are not to be given away/shared via a download link on your blogs or through any other means. Feel free to post a picture of the web version (72 ppi) of your card on your blog. If you want, you can also include a link to the forum so others can join in and participate. Please let me know if you have any questions about this explanation or my Terms Of Use (TOU) document.

I figured the only way I'd be sure to get my cards done before the END of the month was to force myself to have them done before I released the kit! So happy to have them done!! : )

You can find my recipe for Raspberry Honey Butter here, and my 2nd recipe card for Quick Rolls is here.

If anyone has a tip for how to use a regular cookie sheet to bake rolls and not have the bottoms get so brown (burned!), please tell me. Does parchment paper work? Or silpat baking mats? The bottoms are perfect when I use my glass casserole dish, so that's what I'm using for now.

I find the the Cookie Sheets with the Air Pocket in them make the best cookies that have a golden brown bottoms. I bet they would make nice bottoms on the rolls. IMHO

Love this month recipe challenge.

Thank you for the challenge, and for posting it on your blog so I found the forum. Here's my first attempt.

I hope I posted it right. My program didn't have the 72dpi option so I went with Medium Web View and hope it's close enough.

OOOOH! I just downloaded the darling kit (busy month - whew!) and can't wait to start! I bake ALL our breads, and my go-to daily bread contains honey! That keeps it nice and moist and adds that wonderful touch of sweetness. I'm happy to be able to share my favorite bread recipe soon! There will be a second recipe included this month, too; the best hamburger/hot dog buns you've ever eaten! (Hint - FINALLY, buns that are beautiful right from the freezer!) Thanks, Maurine!

Are you still having this problem? Send me an e-mail message if you are and I'll see if I can get someone to figure out why.

Here are some instructions someone else put together -- try them and let me know if you have any problems.

"When you are looking at your picture in the gallery there is a small section under the photo that says "Direct Link". Copy the link. Go to the forum post you want to put the picture in and you will see a little yellow box with a mountain in it. Click on that box and paste your link into that box. When you save your comment then your picture should show up."
