Surprise Me Border Challenge

Sometimes when I create a layout, I want the photograph to be the only thing on the page, except perhaps for a date and/or very little text. Yet at the same time, I want some added interest. I have found that borders really come in handy when I find myself in this spot! However, sometimes a more traditional scrapbook page, featuring any number of photos, can be enhanced with the use of a border. These are the concepts that the Border Challenge is based upon. No matter what type of scrapbook page you create, to participate in the Surprise Me! Border Challenge you must .... well... create a border. Each month different challenges will be offered to you........ Here is what I have in mind for October.

We have been creating borders anywhere on our page, (side, bottom, top/bottom) depending upon... our preference, where we thought it fit best on a particular page, or for any number of reasons. This month I thought it would be fun for us to create a page with a TOP border. We've seen a lot of different border styles, but not that many "top only" borders... so let's give it a try!

Here is a sample of what I mean... this sample is from my Sporty Sass Stacked Papers.



Challenge Requirements:
1. Create a page layout which utilizes a TOP Border.
2. You may use any kit that you like. Please be sure to credit the designer.
3. Post your layout in the Surprise Me Border Challenge Gallery.
4. Come back and post your preview and a link to your gallery image in this thread.

So is the Border suppose to be the MAIN focus??? Are we limited on how many elements to use???? I'm confused.. ;-) Are we suppose to MAKE our own border?? I'm not a designer.. just play along with everyone *LOL*

Hi Nancy! Glad you jumped right in here for this Top Border Challenge! You did great!

Oh, hivart, don’t you just love Aimee’s Amber Waves Kit? I think it might be one of my favorites of hers! I love the border you created. It is the perfect frame for your page.

Blue24k2000. The border doesn’t need to be the main focus. It just needs to be part of your page design. You are not limited to how many elements you may use, or what kit you may use. You will just select the kit(s) you would like to use, and use as many or as few elements as you would like to create a top border on your layout. Does that help?

"Scarecrow Wannabe" is my absolute favorite kit from all that I have (and they are many)! I just added one little hedgehog for charm, because it is typical for autumn stories in my country. We say that they collected winter supplies.

Felis, your layout is darling, and I love your border! You did a great job of including those pink buttons! And I am so happy you added the little hedgehog! He is just as cute as can be and certainly looks like he just belongs there!!

Margaret C... did you get your question answered yet? If you are a new poster, it might be that you need to be "verified" before your posts show up. Admin is asking for a 24 hour turn-around on this, as they are currently short one Admin Assistant.

Elk Fan! I was so busy looking at your layout and the photo of the squirrel, that it took me a few seconds before I saw your 2nd post. (Fabulous shot of the squirrel!!!) On the other hand, your grape vine border is pretty amazing too! Beautiful LO, and I love how you brought the vibrant pink into the page.

Gorgeous cluster border, Cynthia! I love how you duplicated that folder paper to serve as a base for your flower clusters, and how you tucked the photo in there. Really pretty!
