Default Lilac Memories, a new kit on my blog

I have just posted a new kit on my blog yesterday .... These are lilacs from my garden in the old house ... how I miss them ... I created the laces from an antique book title illustration ... I love how it turned out ... worth the work of creating it .... http://cottonartsboutique.com

Lovely kit Sue, I found it earlier this evening. I miss lilacs too, you can't grow them in SW Florida. Thank you for the kit.

Gorgeous!!! I used to have a lilac bush, but then my husband pruned it ... I still have the bush, but no lilacs.

They only bloom once a year Jill, and I think the blooms have to be on old wood if I remember correctly. It's okay to prune them but if you prune them too late in the year they won't bloom again for another year. A lot of plants are like that, even here in Florida where most things bloom year round. Wishing you luck for next year.

Don't cut the seed pods off from the season before .... the tree needs those ends to bloom the next year as well .... although I've never had an issue with lilacs not blooming ... I've put suckers in the ground and had them grow but they won't bloom until the bush matures.

It's been years ... I think what happened is he cut it down to the root stock and I'm assuming the bush had been grafted on to some non-blooming rootstock. It's still lushly green and does a great job of shading our window during the summer.

Living in Texas I do not get to enjoy the Lilacs like I did growing up in Minnesota and later living in Wisconsin! Love this kit and one of my Mom's all time favorite flowers! Had many Lilac Bushes all around the house yard! Thanks so much!
