There is a huge fire in a chemical plant about 10 km from here, and massive black clouds have been spreading for the past 9 hours. So far, 2 companies have burned down completely, and 10 tanks, each with 23,000 liters of chemicals, and hundreds of small tanks (200 liters) have exploded, and the plant is still burning.
They will try to spray a blanket of foam on the firte with special fire cars from the airports, but so fat, the flames have not died down enough to try it. We have to stay indoors, and keep doors and windows shut. Fortumately, theey have managed to keep it from spreading to an oil depot, which is practically next door. Just google for brand moerdijk to see the videos......

We stayed up till about 1 am. By then they had the fire under control, but there was still lots of smoke.
This morning, it was safe to go out, but we should not touch the soot or let small children play outside. All cattle is to be kept indoors till the meadows have been tested and found safe. That means the cats will have to stay indoors, too. At least till it is pronounced safe for cattle and children. It was a chemical plant, so no-one knows what was in the smoke and soot. There were immense explosions during the fire, and hopefulle most of the toxic stuff burned into less toxic waste. But it wasn't healthy to breathe that air, that's for sure.
