January 2012 - Surprise Me!

Okay.. It's January 8th, and I am just getting here to set up this challenge. That was NOT part of this months "surprise." However, having said that... let's move on. LOL!

January is a time for new beginnings, or some might say, a 2nd chance!

I just released to theStudio my 2nd Chances Page Kit and coordinating products (ahhh... now you know part of the reason I am late getting here). I wanted to use it in this challenge.

For those of you new to the Surprise Me! Challenge this is how it works: Each month I will offer you a new challenge. The "surprise" is that each month's challenge will be different.

I will issue the challenge and explain any restrictions.

You will create a layout following the stated guidelines.

You will post your layout HERE in the Surprise Me! Gallery by the last day of the month. (Don't forget to credit the designer for whichever kit you use.) Then come back and post your layout here in this thread so we can see, with a quick glance, the amazing work you have done! Use any kit you like in this challenge..

What do you earn by particiating? Well, theStudio offers a 10% discount on ALL of your purchases for the following month. So, if you participate this month and get a layout posted (AND post a link here in this forum), you will receive 10% off of every purchase made next month! No coupons are required. So on to this months' challenge!

It's simple. Scrap any type of "2nd Chance" that comes to mind - Is it a 2nd marriage, a New Years Resolution? A 2nd try at something... anything! Have you fallen off a horse and got up to try again? Are you going back to school after years of being away from it? Are you trying just one more time to learn that special scrapping technique? Share your story with us!

This was fun--my second chance is COMING! It'll be a second chance to do it right --after an EHD failure! But with the help of so many wonderful designers, the friends who are willing to scour my smaller EHDs and jump drives for things I'm frantic to find, and just the second chance to do it right is pretty wonderful. I used Snickerdoodle designs adorable Second Chances kit exclusively for this layout with my hidden (and locked) treasure store of files and folders.


Second Chances

The journaling on this layout says: I have a great treasure chest of pictures and layouts that were lost when I knocked over and jarred a big back up EHD and it became unreadable, because It knocked the reader askew and I lost ALL my files. I could hardly face the idea of reloading hundreds of gigs of kits created by my favorite designers, or finding layouts for the past four years. It's reminder that you MUST back up files--or there will be NO second chances! Lesson learned! Major project ahead!

Oh Yea! A second (or third or fourth) chance to use this kit!!! Well, it just goes with second chances! This was my "scary" ride down the Swiss Alps. Actually, after we came down through the clouds we could hear the bells on the cows in the fields below us. It was beautiful music! Thanks Karen!
