I only have a pocket camera, and I think it's impossible to create bokeh with it.
But can we really use bokeh effect ?

Yes, you can use bokeh effects & after photo editing. There are so many different ways to express yourself with bokeh. ALL are okay & welcomed. I love what I'm seeing so far. Great job!

Okay, I added two photo's to the Photography Contest 2013 gallery. This is an example of only two versions of Bokeh, there is so much more you can do! Both of these are natural bokeh, not edited in, but you are certainly not limited to what only your camera can capture.

Bokeh in the background:

Bokeh in the foreground:

Both photo's edited with MCP Summer Solstice™ Photoshop Actions; the prize for the winning photo this week!

Okay, guess I read the rules wrong...I thought we had to actually take a photo and make sure we had bokah.

Wonderful contributions so far!
Sparkysgirl, I´m so in love with your adorable butterfly!

Actually, I also think we can´t do any collage and adding bokeh effect is collaging in my opinion.

Here is my contribution
I´m so unsure of presenting my photos, but it´s time to start and where else than here, right?
On the pic is our little girlie Lara, 1,5 year old, taken a few days ago.

Photo is cropped, I retouched some distractions, manually enhanced in Adobe Camera Raw, at the end I used Neat Image sofware.

Camera settings
Nikon D90
f5.6
1/500 sec
ISO 200
lens 55-300@220mm

But from what I've been reading, Kimberkatt, you can set up a bokeh shot indoors. It's quite interesting and I want to try it. I've already learned a lot I didn't know about bokeh.

Guess what... it started raining here yesterday... guess that means Summer is over for us. But I will dig into my picture stash, I'm sure there must be a Summer bokeh pic in there ... somewhere... I'm sure.... lol

Love those actions... put them on my Christmas wishlist already

Lookie lookie what I found!!! Once I read up on bokeh, I started going through my stash and found this photo I took on one of my walks through downtown Charleston. These beautiful roses were growing along an iron fence. I added just a touch more bokeh to the left and used blending tools to brighten up the photo.

I love the restraint you used. Great use of bokeh. It looks so good I can almost smell it!

Here are two pics straight out of camera, no retouching whatsoever:

This first one was taken by my daughter with her simple point & shoot - it is possible, lol (yes, this was a lucky shot, the camera was set to automatic ):

And here's one of mine:

Quick definiton for anyone who cares...or doesn't know what it is... It really is all about the area of your image that falls outside depth-of-field meaning it's those blurred lights or shapes within an image. Depending on what aperature you use, the shot will result in those soft circular patterns of light which you see in so many photos. There are so many definitions of bokeh now that it's up to the individual what he or she considers good or bad bokeh.

Alright, well, if we are just going with the focus/blurred idea, then here is my bokeh photo. Taken with my non-fancy camera, no special settings, no editing:

My camera is a Canon Super Shot SX-IS. it's pretty basic, but I do love its macro setting. I'd love a more complex camera with settings & lenses and such, but so far none of the cameras on the market are suitable for me to use with my disability - I tried my sister-in-law's camera, but it took both hands to hold it steady & my fingers were too short to reach to change the settings. I keep checking out camera shops, but so far the cameras I'd like are too heavy, because in addition to my disability, I have an inherited tremor disorder, which often produces a blur effect whether I want it or not lol.

If I use a bokeh overlay to get the effect, will it count?
