I am so excited about this exchange, I totally LOVE templates and can hardly wait to see what everyone makes to share. I might even make another one later, one that is a little fancier. I did make this one I would like to use and probably will pretty soon. Here is my link to the preview

I see the general gallery does not work, I will get a gallery set up for this and let you know when it's ready, you can post to your own member gallery for now, that's fine too.

Using PSP9 to make the template is easy as pie and not near so fattening...LOL If you have ever used a template, just reverse the steps when you make yours, remembering to save it as .PSD when you are finished. YOu could offer it as a .pspimage and a .PNG if you wanted to, many of the tmeplate makes do offer all three formats. 1) make a new image, 12x12 inches at 300DPI. 2) I usually then flood fill that blank image with some shade of gray and name it background. 3) Then adding a new layer for the next thing I want to add to the template, making sure it is a different shade of gray. IT can be anything you want it to be, just remember to add a new layer and naming it each layer you make. The key to making templates seems to be, use items you already use to make your layouts, shapes come in handy, you do have to make a new layer for each item other wise it gets harder when you are using it to add the papers and such you want to use. You could actually make a sketch on paper of what you would like to have your tempalte look like. You do not have to use the actual element someone would use, but using a shape to give an idea of the placement of an element. SO that it is easier for folks to see where to highlight each layer, making it a different shade of gray helps. I use templates all the time, and some of the makes forget to make things clear, so with the one I made I tried to keep it simple, but anyone could add anything to it they wanted in the way of elements. Hope this helped a little.

Why don't people over Templates as .Tiff files? So you can see them in the folder when you search your computer.

My second attempt at making a template
JobaTemplate2 I learned alot doing a second template.I had made two ribbon banners on my original LO but when I made a template out of them the shadows in the ribbon folds didn't show up & it didn't look right .So I deleted them from the template. And I did have some stray pixels on my photo ribbon.I think they were drop shadow pixels even though I cleared all the shadows. I made that ribbon too & this may be why . I probably merged the drop shadow with the ribbon so I could move it around easier.I used marque tool to elemenate the stray shadow pixels. I do not know correct way to do this.

So far so good, looks awesome in the gallery already and it's only the end of day 1!!!! I've sent out posting bonuses to all who've submitted so far.
![]() Joba: Yes, greying elements like ribbons and such does not turn out. Really it's easier and better to just use a basic line or shape for elements since you are really just creating a layout map for people to follow and they will be using the ribbons and elements from their kits to fill it in anyways. |

I found another tutorial on how to make templates at mistycato( found the info in the chatter forums) & have to try it. It might be easier than the one I used.
I am starting to understand that I should replace ribbons etc with shapes.I'm really learning. I now understand that if I have a designers element on my original LO to replace it with a shape.I have looked through my LO's & alot are not condusive to making into a template--at least not with alot of fixing up.

I am trying to decide if I should try my new tutorial on making a template or do some house work.I really should get some work done after spending most of yesterday looking for the hidden treasures & making my first two template Lo's. But.....
Maybe I can compromise.Make a template & for every hour on the computer get up & do 15 min housework. I read this housework trick in the general chatter forums. Maybe I'll give it a try today.
