Default About Week 1's Challenge

I just wanted to encourage anyone who might be having a hard time with this first challenge to think creatively. Yes, the theme is inspired by the anniversary of September 11, but that doesn't mean ever kit needs to be red, white and blue, and plastered with the American flag. A hero can be almost anyone, a policeman or firefighter are just two non-military examples. Think creatively.

Oh, and please remember, the dates Julie posted for the challenge are the dates each week ends (including voting). Deadlines are Monday at 6 each week. This week's challenge needs to be in the gallery by 6 p.m. Central Time on August 8th.

Thanks for the clarification on the times our kits are due. Once we upload them to our 4shared site what do we do with the links post them with the preview or send them to JulieO?? Apologies if I have missed the answer somewhere in the threads
Thanks in advance

Just upload it to the week one gallery and include the links to your 4shared account in the description.

Thanks for that, I had the preview up but didn't know how to do the rest. lol. Off to post the links.

Is there a limit to the folder size? Mine is 41 MB when not zipped and I wanted to double check, some sites say no bigger than 35 MB per download...

Our designers maintain a 35MB maximum on file sizes so that users using dial up don't have to spend all day on one file, only to have it crash at, say 70%, and have to start all over again. 41MB is close enough that you should be okay.

I hope I'm able to post this here, but I have a few more suggestions to those that are having a hard time with the theme! There are so many more "hero's" out there that get overlooked so frequently! A few suggestions are Service Animals, Rescue Teams, Homeless Shelter Volunteers, Medical Staff, Animal Shelter Volunteers, Teachers/Guidance Counselors , Big Brother/Sister Volunteers. Be creative, there are so many hero's around us everyday! Good luck to everyone, can't wait to see what you come up with!!

Curious here... were we supposed to stick to the 8-12 rule here or were our kits supposed to be bigger? Mine would have been bigger but I didn't because I thought it was supposed to be limited to that number... just had to double check... don't want to "lose points" so to speak for not doing *more*elements.

September 8th! Sheesh! Some people are just so picky. I couldn't wait to see all those great kits, so I pushed the deadline up a bit. To a month ago, rofl. You're all late!

Unfortunately i am bowing out before the fun even begins so to speak, i have decided that at this moment i can't give this contest my full concentration. My father has been in hospital for the last 15 days, and with everything else going on I would have to throw something together at the last moment. Not quality work so I will not do it---besides there is always next time --good luck to everyone and I look forward to seeing all the kewl kits!!!!

Sorry to hear about your father being ill. You're in my prayers. Sorry you are leaving the comp too. Hugs, hope he's better soon!!

Regarding the number of elements, I stuck to the rules of max 12 but I think it said if you make several that are recoloured they are counted as 1 element. But I am a stick by the book girl and didn't recolour any anyway.

But unless the voters read the rules they won't know when they vote will they?!!

Good Luck everyone
Hugs

Mine is just over 12 on the elements and at 12 on the papers, but I have a few things that are redone on the same template (mommy and daddy elements, husband and wife elements etc...) I'm really working on making better papers. I was going to do 8, but at 6 I realized I had no solids!

I always put the papers and elements counts on my preview (I made a Digitalegacies preview template when I did my very first kit so they'd all have the same "brand look") Truth is, the numbers are advertising numbers, counting recolored items as separate items.

I am loving this contest. I really like being challenged!

Will we get to vote too? And how many times does each person gt to vote?

Nani I read in another thread that we can vote for as many kits as we like, (but I think originally they said 3 kits) but you have to do it in one go, like select your 3 choices and then hit vote, or something like that. LOL

Shorter answer "Yes"
Good Luck Hun!!

I'm glad that I'm not the only one who noticed some of the kits had a ton of elements, I totally was going to keep going on mine! I really hope they don't vote for a kit simply because it was larger than others... ick.
