Welcome to the SAS-y Birthday Bash Template Exchange Challenge!!! September 1st to 30th Time to replenish that template supply just in time for some serious holiday gift giving scrapping!!! It's pretty simple really, you submit a template to the challenge, either 12x12 or a brag book if you prefer...what I mean by template is a greyscale map which can then be used to quickly create a layout. Each different paper or element should be on it's own layer so that it can easily be swapped for an actual digital paper or element for quick scrapping. Example of templates: ![]() And at the end of the month you get all the templates submitted !!! ![]() ![]() ![]() And as a bonus, you will receive a set of templates created by myself and Cathy Cher of Scrapsational Scraps soon after you've submitted your template. This is what you get as a bonus... ![]() Oops it's all bagged up, quess you will just have to send me a template to see what's in the bag! ![]() Participation is easy. 1. Create your template and zip it and host it at 4shared or yousendit. 2. Send me the link, you can PM me or email it to digimom@digimomdesigns.com 3. Post a preview of your template in the SAS-y Birthday Bash Template Exchange Gallery, the general gallery here is perfect, and come back and post here letting us all know you've posted, linking us up to your template preview in the gallery so we can give you some love. Then sit back and wait, at the end of the month, I'll gather up all the templates submitted and distribute them to everyone who participated. You may of course, submit more than one if you wish ![]() It's that easy!!!! GO....!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! PS. If you use an existing layout to create your template, which is a great easy way to do it, be sure to use only your own layouts as inspiration. And another thing to remember, the template does not have to be an exact copy of your layout, for instance, you cannot grey out an obvious designer created element, unless of course it's your own creation. You should just use a simple basic shape to show where the elements should be placed on the page. Remember a template is just a basic layout map of where to place things, people will be using the kits they have to fill it in with elements and papers of their choice. Have fun!!!!

Do the templates have to be in layers? I use creating keepsakes and can make the basic template with it but can't really seperate the layers that well... is that ok?

So glad to see some interest in this so fast!!!
Here is a tutorial, it's a video by Hummie, on making a template in PSE 6 using an existing layout which is a great way to do it when you are getting started. For this challenge, the template should be a layered file for ease of use for everyone. If I find anything else, still searching for good tutorials for PSP, I'll come share them. |

I've never made a template before either. Thanks for the link to the tutorial. I use PSP8. It doesn't look like it would be too difficult. I may just have to give it a try too! Thanks.

Is there anything we should know about making the origianl LO for the template? Like eliminating stray pixels or marching ants etc? Is it best to use solid color papers?
How do we check our LO so it is acceptable to make a template out of it?

I have another question. How do we give credit to the original designer kit we used to make our LO that we want to make a template from? In the preview?

I'm a little confused here. Are we talking about making template "Quick Pages" or are we talking about making templates of paper or different elements that people can use to make their own papers or elements?

This challenge is to make a template that can then be used for others to quickly create a layout by swapping out your placement of papers and elements with their own. So we're not making quickpages which just require a photo to be dropped in them, but the actual layout, usually done all in greyscale.
And to answer Joba2, templates usually just use basic shapes and solid colors, you are not using actual elements so you don't need to worry about stray pixels or anything like that. if using a LO to create a template, please use your own LO's, not other peoples LO's. That would not be ok. And you can submit more than one template if you wish

Oh, I would never use someone else's LO to make a template. That would be piracy. I was thinking I had to credit the designer's element I did use to make my own LO & converted to a template. But if I understand correctedly from your previous post this is not necessary cause we are using the shape only not the actually element.Hope I got that right.

Oops,I think I may have posted my preview in the wrong gallery. It wouldn't let me post in the sasy birthday gallery (said no photo's allowed)so I thought I found the sasy birthday template challenge gallery but it looks like it went into Jasjul's monthy template challenge. Where is the correct gallery to post our preview.Sorry , I have so many questions.
