26th January is the official national day of Australia, commemorating the arrival of the First Fleet in 1788, marking the start of British colonisation of Australia.

Oh and yes .... we just like to celebrate too

yes its like your 4th of July..though we didnt become independant officially from Britain until 1901..which we call fedaration..but the information Jeanette wrote is correct and yes any reason for a party..lol..I think Anzac day is our next one..though more a commemoration than celebration
