Hi Everyone,
I'm not a designer and I'm fairly new to the world of digi-scrapping. I hope I'm not out of line here but I'd like to throw out a request... several actually. I'm a genealogist and I'm constantly looking for themes that are time (era) specific to use with my collection of old family photos. Vintage is nice but most of the time it's Victorian in nature (1880s-1910s). I'd love to see some kits designed with themes for different eras like the "Roaring 20s"... the era of gangsters, Flappers, and art deco. Or how about the 1940s with WWII stuff, the Big Band era, Victory gardens, etc. The 1950s would be fabulous with all the sherbet colored cars, poodle skirts, lots of chrome, juke boxes, & feather boas. The 1960s with tie-dyed, flower power and peace signs would be a natural. If anyone is looking for design ideas, please consider these. My genealogy buddies would love to see kits and quick pages with time-specific themes. And one more design idea while I'm at it... how about ethnic themes? I've seen some for Scottish and Irish/Celtic, and a couple for the French but I would love to see themes for Polish, German, Italian, Greek, Russian, Spanish, etc. If anyone knows where time (era) specific themes, or ethnic themes are available I'd really like to know about them. I'd be delighted to pass the information on from my genealogy blog. Thanks! |

That is a great idea, Jasia! I am into genealogy too and I know what you mean. I second that request!

Hhmmm...very interesting idea!! I do a lot of genealogy too and I would love to see more era specific material. I'll bet there is some stuff out there somewhere but it would be fun to create too.

If anyone is interested in pursuing it I can set up forum and gallery catagories for it, any good name ideas? My first thought is “Era and Ethnic Themes” but I am sure someone can come up with something better.

I like the the theme you came up with Julie, and I can't think of anything else.
But in the meantime, here is a Photo Impact site that has some png and jpg files in some of the kits that maybe some one can use. May of 2007 Mega kit is 1950's era. I am not sure if the ufo files can be converted for other programs. http://www.pii-scrapbook-crafts.com/..._mega_kits.htm All kits and elements are free! Hope this helps.

This site has a great selection of vintage of all eras. Check it out. Just type vintage in the search box on the upper right side of the page. I was very surprised and pleased at just how much there was available. I paged through 110 different kit, papers, etc on this site.
http://digitalscrapbookpages.com/digitals/ I thought this one was especially cute! http://www.digitalscrapbookpages.com...oducts_id=6333 Last edited by janalyn; 07-19-2007 at 09:10 AM. |

I have a nifty kit from Tina Williams called Grandmother's Sewing Room and she has other kits that are vintage. Here's the Web site http://www.tinawilliamsdesigns.com/

Sorry, I've just gotten so interested in this that I can't help myself!
![]() Here is a link to a minikit freebie that is rather Vintage. This website also has a free daily download. The kit starting today, 07-20-07, has a definite vintage look to it and one of the links in a post below is to other kits by this same designer. She definitely has a flair for the antique look. http://www.digitalscrapbookpages.com...oducts_id=5618 |

I downloaded the Fabulous 50s file from www.pii-scrabook-crafts.com site but I couldn't open much of it. When I un-zipped it most of the files were in the .ufo file format. What is that? I tried to look it up through Microsoft's file definition database and it didn't know what it was. I'm assuming it's a file format native to a particular software, but which one? I was so excited when I saw this kit but besides a good sized selection of tiles (in .jpg format) there's only 6 elements I can use. Very disappointing! I'm wondering why anyone would go through all the work to create these pieces but not convert/save them in the standard .jpg or .png file formats that everyone else seems to use. Any ideas?

I know you were wanting something that wasn't victorian, but for those of you who do like victorian, my favorite victorian kit (so far) is here from Blushbutter! She is also teasing us with layouts on her yahoo group once in a while, that uses a victorian wedding kit she is making.
I also like using Lara Payton's kits for heritage layouts, you can find her site here. Then of couse as already mentioned, Tina Williams has some lovely kits perfect for heritage layouts. I don't get out and about the digi community all that much lately, so I haven't seen to many of your themed kits, you are talking about. I hope you find some! |

I couldn't get the download link to work. It goes to 4Shared but the folder there is empty. Maybe the link is too old. There are other folders there too that are all empty.

OMG, Deb, I love Blush Butter! They have awesome fairy stuff! I've also purchased some of the wedding stuff, and knights, and dragons. I didn't realize she had a yahoo group. I'll have to look into that.

I've been busy with my niece who was visiting, but we took her home today, so after we get through tomorrow (a wedding to go to) I can get back to scrapping more, and visiting my favorite spots! I think this is going to become one of them too!!
