Welcome to August's Template Challenge!
![]() How the challenges work:
Rules are simple, I will provide you with a template, and your job is to use the template to create a layout! You can use the template as is, change it around, flip it, rotate it, crop it, add to it, take away from it, whatever you wish to do! When your finished with your layout, please post it to the Template Challenge Gallery & post a link back here so we can all leave you some love & you can collect your challenge points! ![]() There are no restrictions on supplies, you can use whatever is in your stash to make your layout! Here's a look at the template for this month: ![]() EXPIRED Enjoy! I can't wait to see what you do this month! ![]() -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Edit: Here are instructions on how to use the text path provided with the template 1. Make sure the text layer & your text tool are selected 2. Hover over the text and click to edit 3. Delete the text that is there, change your font/size (if you want) and then just type in your text. It should follow the curve of the text path for you! Let me know if you have any problems with it

Kim, you've been coming up with such awesome templates. So many templates look the same, but yours actually stand out as something different and worth working with.

Aww, thanks Lori!! Templates are so much fun to make, and can be used and changed over and over, I love them! Sometimes, I even go back to older templates and change them up to come up with completely new templates!
I'm so glad you're enjoying them!!

Hey, Kim, this is ending up to be a word art challenge for me, 'cause I have no idea how to curve my journaling to follow the curves of your paper. Any suggestions out there?
Thanks! |

I am not big with shaped journaling like this myself, but I just selected the text and retyped it. Does that maybe work for you also, not sure what program you use.

Sorry you guys, I should have posted something... it's a text path, so it should be very easy to modify. (HINT! I'm working on another for the Wordart Challenge this month - I know, I'm late... but it's coming!
)1. Make sure the text layer & your text tool are selected 2. Hover over the text and click to edit 3. Delete the text that is there, change your font/size (if you want) and then just type in your text. It should follow the curve of the text path for you! Let me know if you have any problems with it Kelly, maybe Pixelmator doesn't support text paths?

Argh.... It appears I'm not the only one with this trouble. I poked my nose into the pixelmator forums a bit (though it is mostly way over my head!) and found that when the program opens a PSD file, the text layers are "rasterized". Which would explain why I've never been able to use your text. So, I do need to nose around in there a bit more later and see what I can learn about doing it myself. But I did find a drop-shadow tool, which I downloaded and will have to figure out how to install later. If I can figure it out, that might save me some time!
A little heads-up for Digides - I'll be using her mini Warm Thoughts from the Color Challenge two or three months back. I'm really loving it; great quality and textures!! |

Ahhh... so I went back to the forums... turns out Pix does NOT support non-destructive distortions (like paths) - yet, they said. I could try rasterizing my text and then using bump distortions, but I don't really want to try bending my head around that project right now. So I'll come up with something else. Too, bad, I always thought that looked so pretty, too!

This is my template for this month. Thanks so much Kim for the directions on how to use the text path in PSE. I saved the path for future use.
