if i'm correct the 12X12 is for your actual kit. the 72dpi and 600X600 is for the preview.

Correct! After you have made your full-size 12X12, 300dpi layout, you should resize the entire page down to 600X600 pixels at 72dpi to upload to the gallery... if you try to upload an image larger than this, it will get stuck in your queue in the gallery and you will not be able to upload again until one of the admin staff goes in and clears it out for you.

If using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, the easiest way to do this is to use the "Save for Web" function under the FILE menu - you will get a pop up box that says something about the file size being too big for this function, just click on YES and it will bring you to the save for web screen - once you change the numbers on the right, just click save/done at the bottom and you're all set!
