WEEK 2 ASSIGNMENT

YOUR ASSIGNMENT

Create a SINGLE 12X12 LAYOUT using as much of the kit as you can to promote it as much as possible, whilst still keeping your page, including shadows and layers, BALANCED AND EYECATCHING.

By Shadows I mean they should be consistent, all in the same direction and relative to the distance off the page that particular element or paper is.

Your layout should be resized to 600 x 600 pixels before uploading to the gallery, otherwise your layout will get stuck in the queue.


In this round you must:

• post a link to the kit in your description and you must credit the designer and kit
• mention any changes besides adding shadows. so if you added a bevel or glow or cropped anything you must say so in the description area when you post your page.
• Post your layout in the Week 2 Gallery and also the designer's gallery then post the (week 2 gallery) url link from the address bar here in this thread so that we know you have posted and can go leave you some love.
• If you have a legitimate problem getting your layout up on time, ie computer issue or internet connection problem or a studio upload based problem, let us know and we may make an exception, otherwise all pages must be uploaded by the deadline.

Once you have uploaded your 'official' entry for the week you are not to edit it in any way once it's been uploaded to the gallery.

You can do as many layouts as you wish but doing more than one layout will also mean any votes you get will be for the layout not for you as a contestant, so keep that in mind. More layouts may mean less votes for you in the poll in the long run.

POST YOUR LAYOUT IN THE LAYOUT ARTIST COMPETITION WEEK 2 GALLERY.

POLL FOR VOTING : will go up in a separate thread just after MIDNIGHT EST SUNDAY NIGHT

POLLING CLOSES : Midnight est on Tuesday 14th September

ALL STUDIO MEMBERS CAN VOTE IN THIS ROUND


35 contestants will go on to round 3
A new thread with those who will be going on and the new week 2 assignment will be posted on WEDNESDAY 15th September ALL CONTESTANTS MOVING ON IN THE CONTEST WILL RECEIVE THE NEXT KIT BY PM MESSAGE.



A FEW MORE RULES

ALL VOTING POLLS ARE OPEN TO THE STUDIO MEMBERS ONLY - THE FINAL VOTE IS ONLY OPEN TO STUDIO DESIGNERS AND ADMIN.

No offering freebies or any other incentives for votes
You can blog about the competition and you can have a banner or blinkie or such in your signature to advertise that you are a contestant
You can have "Please vote for Me" in your signature or banner/blinkie or on your blog just don't offer anything in return for votes in the poll.

I'm surprised and happy I made the cut! All the layouts were so well done, it was a shame that everyone couldn't go on to round two. I didn't see one bad layout in the gallery and the choice of only four, (because everyone who was in the round voted for themselves, right?) was VERY difficult!

Now I'm home with all of my photos to use and working with a kit I hemmed and hawed about buying when it first came out. I should be able to create something truly wonderful this time, especially considering the topic and my husband's favorite color is burgundy!

Congrats to everyone who was in round one - even if you didn't advance, putting yourself out there is a victory. Scrapping is about our memories and the people and things that are dear to us. I know the voting was for the layout, but it was still a strange feeling of everyone voting on my day with my husband - I think it was easier when I was in the designer competition because there wasn't anything personal!

wahoolady, that was our wedding cake - it was a tomboy's dream wedding!

In the rules for this week it states that we have to note any changes that are made- does that include resizing? Sorry if that seems like a silly question, just want to make sure I making notes as I go along if I need to remember all the resizes I do. Also if we only use one of the spilled beads how would you write that up.

Resizing is usually a normal process like shadowing in layouts. We want to know of any 'physical' changes you make because when people see a lovely layout and want to buy the kit they often 'presume' what you have on your layout is exactly what is in the kit but if you have changed something or made a paper curl yourself etc then of course that would not be in the kit and thus be a little misleading, hope this helps

I actually went through from one to three photos from three different events and changed this layout so much - I think I'm way overthinking! It's a lovely kit and I want to do it justice!

Still, I like my layout. Hope a few more people do too!
