Holland has come to a standstill.
The entire country is covered in snow, a thick layer of snow. Public transport is still going, sometimes, sort of........ But especially trains and regional buses are very few and far between. Some motorways are OK, but some are truly dramatic, and in the towns and villages, it is anyone's guess whether or not the streets will be passeable by car or on foot. In some places only a pair of skis will get you anywhere at all. People have been advised not to go out unless they have to. One of my cats likes it, though, and the neighbours' dog was having fun, too. ![]() ![]() ![]()

We have had quite a lot of snow over the past 5 years. After a long period of autumn-like winters, we have been getting quite a few real winters, now.
This year the south has had the worst of it, mostly between 20 and 40 cms, but in 2005 and 2006, the north had over 60 cms of snow, and we only had 15 to 20 cms. And this is the second layer of snow we got. About 3 weeks ago, we also had a few days of snow. I cannot remember ever having snow as early as the first week of December... 4 December: ![]() ![]() and yesterday ![]()

Gorgeous pictures Anja! Thanks so much for sharing them with us! I was hoping for a White Christmas here, but I don't think that is going to happen! We got an inch or so, then it warmed up and melted a bit, then cooled down and froze everything up! So, we're in Icy Wonderland right now! LOL! The animals playing in the snow are soooo cute! I love to watch them, they're like children!

Well, sometimes you have to think carefully just what you wish for, Kimberly.
You got your snow..... with a vengeance. It is melting here, now. We had a christmas tree of icicles on our wall.... It looks great, but I am not too happy, it will mean spending a lot of money on repairs on the drainpipe.... ![]() ![]() The cats had an ice cave instead of a cat flap......
