Week 3: The Alpha

A big congratulations to every single one of you that finished last weeks challenge. I am amazed & dazzled by the goodies in our gallery. If you did not finish, you may put it up late, though you will not qualify for prizes this week or for the grand prize. If you did not participate last week, or any weeks, you may still join in this week!

Note: You must use the same palette & theme every week. The theme is "Wedding".

Most Important Note: To qualify for the Grand Prize of a Wacom Bamboo you must participate in all 4 weeks.

Week 3: The Alpha!



Your assignment for Week 3:

• Use your palette (or pick one if this is your first week joining us)
• You do not have to share the palette on your preview. But you may.
• Use the theme: Wedding
• 1 Full Alpha (defined as upper & lower case; numbers optional).
• Due date: Thursday April 21 at midnight (EST)
• Preview only the Alpha.
• You must post your preview in the Week 3: Spring Fling Design Contest gallery
  Preview size is standard 600X600 @72dpi
• You must provide download links (4shared, boxnet, rapidshare, etc.).
• You may blog, blog, blog!
• Voting is done exclusively by the Admin & Design Team at theStudio

That's it! This is for fun, we are not QC'ing you. Still, do remember to include a TOU with your zip files. Do remember to credit the CU artists who helped you design your products.

Remember the palette (your choice) and theme: Wedding (my choice) are for the duration of this contest.

OH EDIT: we can use our previous elements to make an Alpha, correct? Or does this have to be something completely new? Thought I'd ask before I went ahead and done did what I'm thinking of

I was hoping that you would ask us for an Alpha this week since I have plans to go visit my Mom in 2 days so not a lot of time like last week. Dumb Question... Does the Font for both the Upper and Lower have to be the same?

Hmmm not a dumb question at all! Very interesting. I think you can use any font you'd like for Upper/Lower, mix them up, different fonts. This is your kit make the way you would like it!

Btw, that's a NO: fonts for Upper & Lower do not have to be the same.

Amen to the above statements, I too have the same problems. Can anyone help me on making an alpha: point me to some tutorials please? I use PS CS5.

I just got myself some big fonts awhile back, maybe that would be helpful? Or maybe I can find something unique out there.

lol That's probably why I love them, I run my action and am done in a couple of minutes.

Since saving them can be a big pain, I've made a coupon in case anyone is interested, you can grab my Quick Alpha Saver. Maybe it is of use to someone. The coupon will give you 60% off.

Coupon: MD59130 (case sensetive)

You can use it to quickly create and save you alpha.
You just have to make sure that you use a commercial use okay font and that you have arranged every letter in their box, saving is just a push of a button.

It has only been tested in CS2, CS3, PS7 and PSE6 though.
