Here are the instructions for this month's recipe card challenge/exchange:
1. Click HERE for this month's starter kit; it will be free to those who participated in the prior month's challenge. Please use this kit (or papers/elements you design in the same color palette) so the cards will "coordinate" and to ensure we don't violate other designers' TOU. 2. The general theme for this month's cards is your favorite PARTY TREATS recipes ~ the post below this one includes more information. Be creative and have fun with your cards! If you need different metal tags and don't have them from previous kits, send me an e-mail and I'll make them for you. 3. Design your recipe card(s) however you'd like. Include your name, forum name ~ whatever you want ~ on the card. 4. Create your original card at 6" wide X 4" tall (1800 and 1200 pixels) and save it as a 300 ppi jpeg, quality between 8 to 10. These are the print-quality cards that will be shared with all participants. You will also need to resize your card at 72 ppi to post in the gallery. WHEN FINISHED with your card(s), do the following 3 things: 1. E-mail your print-quality, 300 ppi recipe card to LetMeScrapbook@hotmail.com so it can be included in the download file at the end of the month. Several participants have asked for blank copies of the cards you design, so if you're willing to send me both (with and without the words), that would be great! 2. Upload a picture of your 72 ppi card to the Recipe Card Challenge Gallery. Please upload only your actual recipe card ~ not the blank cards. 3. Post a link here in this forum thread no later than September 30. At the end of the month, all participants will receive a link to download all the cards created that month. Bon appétit!!

In honor of theStudio's birthday celebration this month, the focus for September's recipe card challenge will be on party treats! It doesn't have to be "sweets" ~ although I think many of us have unashamedly admitted our great love for chocolate! There are no boundaries or restrictions ~ if you make it for a party, include it on a card! Some ideas include cakes, homemade frosting, cupcakes, ice cream, petit fours, finger foods, appetizers, drinks, etc.
I really was going to make a smaller starter kit this month, but I just couldn't stop myself! I love the fun elements and bright colors ~ I'm pretty sure I'm going to expand this into a full-size kit before the weekend is over! I look forward to seeing all your cards! Oh, wow...a great category! I just went to look at the Sept kit and I love it! Seems like each month outshines the previous if that's possible. This is amazingly cute! Thanks for the great challenge and kit, Maurine.

You are all so sweet ~ thanks for the positive feedback!! : )
Quick update on the August challenge: I've sent the coupon code for September's starter kit to everyone who has sent me their cards, and hopefully have sent a note to everyone I still need cards from. If you haven't heard from me one way or the other, please let me know as soon as possible. Once I get all the August cards, I'll send participants a message that includes the download links. You're about to receive another wonderful collection of recipes and blank cards! |

Sweet, sweet kit, thanks. And since, I am one of those chocoholics, guess it will be that type of recipe.
Glad to hear you are feeling better. Now, the hard part, don't overdo.

Hi Maurine: It's me again...Toni. Why is it when I upload my recipe cards, the shadow is much farther away from the element than what it looks when I am working in CS5? It is a good ways out from where I placed it, the shadow that is. Could it be when I change it to 72ppi?

I'm not sure, but my initial thought is this: do you flatten your image before you resize it to the 72 ppi? I know I sometimes end up with weird shadows when I don't flatten first. If not that, does anyone else have any ideas?

No, I have never flattened them. I went back and flattening the image worked in PS, but the picture still looks the same when I post it here. So I will assume it does have something to do with flattening, but who knows if I will ever get anything to work right!! I'm still quite a newbie at this stuff! Thanks so much for ALL of your help.
