Have you considered doing the August color challenge? Here's the link to that thread: http://www.digitalscrapbookingstudio...ead.php?t=9555

BY THE WAY... only 11 DAYS to go!

Me, too. I can't wait to start. I'm counting the days. (And trying to all those outstanding projects completed. Right! Like that's going to happen. I think up new ones a lot faster than I check things off the list.)

I would also love to give this a try. I'm also not sure what will be expected as I have never taken part in a designer contest before but I'm gonna try my hardest because the experience is invaluable. I NEED to be a designer and start earning from my creations very soon ... so, count me in please? I'm ready to jump in and start swimming ...

I like that you use different shadows - makes it more realistic. Paper would have smaller shadows in real life, and flowers larger. Personally I would have lowered the opacity for the shadows on the flowers, but that's my personal preferences.

Here are some basic ideas I got on shadowing - this is my thoughts, and what I've learned through trial and error. I'm no pro

Make sure the angle of the shadows are always the same. I usually add a shadow to one layer, then copy and paste that to all other layers. That way I'm sure the angle is the same on every shadow.

Also, the closer to the background the item is, the darker shadow (Opacity around 60-70 %). I use darker shadows for papers. Settings for a paper I would set at: Size 10%, Distance 10%, and Opacity 60%). Flowers I can go up to 35% in size. Oh, and the bigger the size - the lower the opacity. So hard to say a fixed number, cuz the color of the kit, patterns on the papers and so on make a difference. But a starting point for a flower might be Size 20%, Distance 20%, and Opacity 25%.

But as I say: trial and error is really the best way

Hope this helps.
