youtube is really great for digi scrap tutorials! Just do a search for "digital scrapbooking" and you'll be amazed at the amount of video tutorials over there!
![]() Also, for those using PSE, Hummie's World is a wealth of information!! She even has monthly classes for a small fee, but there are a bunch of free video tuts there, too!

I have a question though - more a language thing ... I don't understand one thing she's talking about "being out of the gamut". Trying my dictionaries, but I can't find what this means. Can someone please explain this to me?

Being out of Gamut means the colors may not print as they are appearing on your screen.
Most printers use CMYK color mode whereas most kits are in RGB color mode so some colors usually bright ones like really bright yellows, greens, reds will sometimes not print as you see them on your computer screen. Photoshop has the option of checking for this by selecting View>Gamut Warning if the color is out of Gamut those areas will show up as grey when you are in this view. Hope this helps some hun

Ah, okey. Thanks! I don't have that gamut warning though
I only have PSE. When I grow up I will get a proper PS.

Oh, Linda, you're going to love PSE!! If you need help with anything let me know, PSE is what I learned on many years ago, I still have my PSE5 and use it to scrap most times, rather than open up the "big boy"PS and suck down my memory on my computer - I find PSE is a lot more user friendly, you'll be amazed what it can do!
![]() Tanteva - I'm not sure if there is a gamut option in PSE, I'll look around and see if I can find it I think there might be a workaround for that.... I never actually looked for it in PSE - I check gamut when I'm choosing colors... if you go to your foreground/background color, click on it to change and the color picker comes up, choose a bright red, green, or yellow and check if you get the "out of gamut" symbol, it's a triangle with an exclamation point in the middle - if you click on this symbol, it will automatically switch to the nearest color that is not out of gamut ... I use it all the time in PS, but I can't remember if PSE has that function or not...

And, actually.... I did a gamut print test just to see how much of a difference there was, I printed something that was extremely out of gamut, compared to the corrected item that was in gamut, and the printed results were very slightly different, almost unnoticeable! The shade of the red I used on the corrected was just slightly lighter than the out of gamut one, and the out of gamut one printed fine, no loss of detail or texture, the color was just brighter... so I'm really not sure why they stress this so much, but it's better to cover all your bases instead of getting yourself into a mess with a customer

Yep I wouldn't worry about the gamut too much, steer clear of ultra bright (glow in the dark) limes, reds etc and you won't have a problem
![]() Kim, Diane aka anita_d sent a heap of my designs to the lab for printing, out of gamut and then the corrected ones and you can't tell the difference enough for it to matter, she was a sweetie and snail mailed them all to me. I Diane
