Last year the last day was a sad one for Jaden, he was leaving the school he had been at since age three in Judy Center, thru Pre-K and Kindergarden -- for the upcoming 2010-2011 school year he had been accepted into the Gifted and Talented program and that meant leaving this school for a new one, that's hard for a 6 year old. To help him feel better we went and took pictures with the Principal, Asst Principal, his Pre-K asst teacher and his Kindergarden teacher --plus a pic of him with all his classmates. He is now at the new school for this year and settling in well, he did get sad when he saw me working on this though.

Kit Used--Sept 2010 Mega Collection-Old School
http://tinyurl.com/23l6h3t
Font used: Tinker Toy

Items were resized and shadow added
Other changes were as follows

Duplicated green circle paper and on 1 layer just left the ABC,123 circles(deleted rest of paper) then adjusted opacity on other layer so the ABC,123 would stand out
Erased parts of scissors to look like cutting the paper and to have the crayon going thru one of the hadles
Erased part of the pencil so it looked like it was in the spiral of the notebook
Erased part of safety pin on tag to go thru the paper
Added white outside stroke to apple and schoolhouse placed on tag to make them look like stickers
Added outside stroke to corkboard
Owl had been duplicated w/multiply blend on top layer to make it bolder
Erased part of the crayon border so that is behind some objects
Erased link chain and jump ring from the words--school days, seperated them, deleted the S from days and used as word art in my title
duplicated the stars, erased the string loop on them, used satin and out glow to make look more like they were golden stickers on the paper

Thanks, it took me along time to place and size the pics how I wanted them, save it a couple of diff ways, but this was what I liked the best -- and I really did want to use them all, that was the challenge -- so I played and placed all the pics before I did anything else, not how I usually start.

Loved how you combined alot of the elements, that took some work! That's usually when my computer freezes up too, or mysteriously shuts down, especially if I am on a roll. Just have to make myself save and save again.
Good Luck! - Glad he is fitting in, I know my daughter changed districts this year and she's 12 and still having issues.

Aww! It can be very hard to make changes. My elementry school (a school I LOVED) closed the summer between 4th grade and 5th grade. I had to go to a different school for 5th and then change to the junior high in 6th. Fifth grade was not the best year. What a special page this is for you and your son. Something he will treasure always.

Thanks for all the comments about my LO, appreciate every word. As for Jaden, at first he was crying every night that he watned to go back to his old school, then for the past 2 weeks he seemed alot happier, than he saw me making this and it resulted in another night of tears. Hopefully he will bounce right back to where he was getting more comforatable.

Love how you made the apple and the schoolhouse into stickers and I can't imagine the time it took to get those photos just right - but what a great page to have for "down the road".
