Heritage Challenge Walter Scott 1866-1952

Heritage Challenge Walter Scott 1866-1952

This is my great grandfather, a proud member of the Grand Army of the Republic, having served in the Union Army during the Civil War. All the rest of my family served on the other side. He was also quite proud of being a Scot, hence the scarf (for lack of remembering the right word).

I used Lynn Griffin's Vintage Patriot page kit and Diglicious' There and Back post card.

Wonderful heritage page. It's a great touch putting plaid behind the photo.

I'd have loved that to have been a tinted picture. It was only in the time of black and white. I think he's maybe about 50 then, so it could be earlier. When he was close to his death, he had a full head of white hair and really didn't look much older, but he was much thinner then. It was perhaps done in the late 20's. I've only found maybe 3 pictures of him, and while I vaguely remember him, not enough to really know him. Shame as I think he was a very interesting man.
