The journaling reads:

Lawrence Francis Kelley

Enlisted in the US Navy September 28 1942 and reported for duty at San Diego Naval Station on October 2nd. At the time he was 20 years and 7 months old

He completed basic training on November 24, 1942 and Reorted for duty with the Carrier Aircraft Service Unit 14, on May 5th, 1943.

December 1, 1943 saw him advance from Seaman Second Class, to Aviation Machinists Mate, Third Class.

He participated in the capture and occupation of New Georgia (British Solomon Islands) from August 9, 1943 to October 25, 1943 as part of the amphibious operations.

He returned to American Soil in December 1944 and was Honorably Discharged on October 19, 1945.
